Job Summary

Position No. . The Department of Anthropology at Southern Methodist University Dallas Texas invites applications for a Lecturer in archaeology. The annual position will start August 1 2026. We are looking for an individual who can teach introductory courses in archaeology world prehistory and biological anthropology as well as upper division regional and/or topical courses. The ideal candidate will have a track record of excellence in teaching. Typical teaching load is 4:4 with no contractual obligations for research or service. This is a position for one year pending satisfactory performance reviews. Teaching will be largely undergraduate courses with occasional graduate level teaching possibilities in the candidates area of expertise. Teaching faculty have access to internal conference funds and competitive research funds upon submission and approval.
