JOB TITLE: Mechanic
POSITION SUMMARY
A Maintenance Mechanic will troubleshoot and repair all mining equipment and various machinery. This position requires the ability to work safely whether independently or within a team with a wide range of mechanical knowledge and welding skills and flexibility in your working schedule for callouts or other unusual circumstances.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
- Must understand the proper methods in replacing or maintaining typicalheavyequipment. This includes but is not limited to: Engines transmissions hydraulic systems hoses cylinders 12/24 volt electrical systems tire and rim repair and air systems.
- Perform routine preventative maintenance activities to maximize equipment reliability and lifecycle.
- Locates sources of problems by observing mechanical devices in operation; listening for problems; using precision measuring and testing instruments.
- Removes defective parts by dismantling devices; using hoists cranes and hand and power tools; examining form and texture of parts.
- Determines changes in dimensional requirements of parts by inspecting usedparts;using rules calipers micrometers and other measuring instruments.
- Controls downtime by informingheavyequipment operatorsof routine preventive maintenance techniques; monitoring compliance.
- Fabricates repair parts by using machine shop instrumentation and equipment.
- Maintains equipment parts and supplies inventories by checking stock to determine inventory level; anticipating needed equipment parts and supplies; placing and expediting orders; verifying receipt.
- Conservesmaintenanceresources by using equipment and supplies as needed to accomplish job results.
- Provides mechanical information by answering questions and requests.
- Prepares mechanical reports by collecting analyzing and summarizing information and trends.
- Maintains technical knowledge by attending educational workshops; reviewing technical publications; establishing personal networks.
- Maintains continuity among work teams by documenting and communicating actions irregularities and continuing needs.
- Maintains safe and clean working environment by complying with procedures rules and regulations.
- Contributes to team effort by accomplishing related results as needed.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
- Valid Drivers License
- High school diploma or equivalent
- Able to lift push pull greater 30 lbs.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills
- Must have an understanding and the ability to operate heavy equipment
- Must have general computer skills to diagnose heavy equipment.
- Must be able to read and understand Technical Manuals and prints.
- Must know general automotive. This includes butisnot limited to: Brakes tie rods ball joints springs u-joints etc.
- Must be available for call-outs (have reliable transportation)
- Must be willing to work overtimeand weekends
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
- Candidates should have at least three years experience in the repair ofheavyequipmenthydraulics12/24 volt electrical systemsgeneral automotiveetc. and possess a High School Diploma or GED.
- Possessageneral industrial maintenance skill includingbut not limited toMillwright Pipefitter Outside Machinist and/or Welder.
- Must be able to communicate job activities to others and pro-actively recognize and mitigate job hazards.
- Strong attention to detail.
- Strong mechanical aptitude and work ethic.
- Ability to work in an outside environment in both high places and confined spaces.
SPECIFIC KNOWLEDGE SKILLS & ABILITIES
- Attention to detail
- Ability to work both independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced environment
- Ability to weld cut grind and work with steel and poly pipelines
- Ability to problem solve learn processes quickly and stay calm in a stressful environment
SCHDULE
- A 40-hour week work schedule will be required with call-outs as part of the job
