Primary Duties & Responsibilities:
- Obtain job assignments from supervisor or manager.
- Work safely in accordance to plant safety guidelines including cardinal rules of safety.
- Adheres to quality processes including in-process inspections to ensure compliance with quality specifications.
- Load and unload product and fixtures on assigned CNC machine.
- Perform machining operations from drawings and written work instructions.
- Utilize basic mathematical skills to measure and record dimensional items with accuracy and efficiency.
- Responsible for his / her part quality and utilizes standard and customer measuring equipment to perform dimensional checks.
- Performs visual inspections of machines parts.
- Pass or fail parts in QMS.
- Report nonconforming parts to shift lead supervisor or engineering.
- Maintains machines in operational condition by performing daily preventive maintenance checks of oil levels and coolant concentration reporting any machine abnormalities to the shift team leader or supervisor.
- Maintains a clean and organized work area to 6S standards.
- Maintains continuity among work shifts through verbal or documented communication for required actions irregularities and continuing needs.
- Communicates with manufacturing on first piece acceptance and stopping processes due to failing parts.
- Performs other duties as assigned by supervisor or manager.
Required Skills:
- Basic English language skills and the ability to read follow and interpret planning and work order instructions.
- Basic PC skills including Microsoft Office (Word Excel)
- Ability to professionally communicate and work cooperatively with others.
- As required must be able to pass any Customer required testing/machining specifications pertaining to their parts and standards.
- Skill in following directions both verbal and written and in transferring instructions into action.
- Ability to prioritize and complete multiple tasks and high volume of work on a deadline.
- Attention to detail.
- Basic math skills include adding subtracting multiplication division and fractions.
- Willingness to learn.
- US Citizenship or Permanent Residency is required due to government military contracts.
Experience & Education
- High school diploma or GED required; CNC operator / machinist diploma or certification preferred. Machine Tool Technology degree a definite plus.
- 0 to 2 years of manufacturing experience operating CNC mills or lathes; prior military experience; or technical certification / degree
Working Conditions:
- Constant exposure to indoor manufacturing environment
- Constant exposure to moderate noise
- Working conditions may include small spaces dust fumes odors hot / cold temperatures inside / outside noise vibration standing on concrete for long hours and wet or uneven surfaces.
- Must be able to work any shift including overtime weekends and holidays if scheduled.
Physical Requirements:
- Must be able to lift and carry items weighing up to thirty-five (35) pounds on a repetitive basis.
- Must be able to stand walk bend squat climb kneel twist and work at heights on an intermittent basis for up to twelve (12) hours.
- Requires hand manipulation including simple grasping pushing and pulling of materials.
- Must be able to safely operate an overhead crane.
- Must be able to reach and work above and below the shoulder level.
- Must be able to work with and around forklifts and hazardous machinery.
- Must be able to wear all the required Personal Protective Equipment.
- Visual acuity skill to detect any flaws in the parts being inspected.
