Description
The Senior Payroll Administrator is responsible for accurate and timely administration of multi-state US and Canada payroll. This role serves as a subject matter expert exercises independent judgment in interpreting payroll regulations establishes procedures and supports the Payroll Team Lead with complex compliance audit and system related initiatives.
Responsibilities
- Administer payroll for approximately 7500 employees across multiple states countries and divisions.
- Oversees and supports accurate employee payroll data maintenance including tax withholding 401k ESPP and garnishment deductions.
- Work with UKG to resolve issues including tax notices and system issues.
- Considered the go-to person regarding payroll laws research and analysis.
- Establish and communicate payroll procedures.
- Serves as escalation point for complex payroll issues.
- Create and maintain department documentation.
- Train guide and mentor Payroll Administrator as needed.
- Provide training and guidance to Divisional HR Reps to resolve payroll and paycheck issues in a timely manner.
- Update state unemployment rates in system and maintain spreadsheet.
- Facilitate year-end processes and stay up to date on system upgrades and new features.
- Assist Team Lead with tax payment reconciliations.
- Assist Team Lead with internal/external audit of HR/Payroll processes.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Qualifications
- Some college in business math accounting /finance or related discipline is preferred.
- 5 years of multi-state payroll experience required.
- Experience with multi-country payroll operations in APAC is a plus.
- CPP is preferred.
- Experience with payroll software is required; UKG experience is preferred.
- Advanced knowledge of payroll taxes.
- Experience with tax requirements for visa employees is preferred.
- Knowledge of SOX and SSA-16 audit requirements is preferred.
- Knowledge of ex-patriot tax requirements is a plus.
- Outstanding customer service and problem-solving skills.
- Highly proficient with Microsoft Office products especially Microsoft Excel.
