Job Summary

Position Summary

The Associate Dean Academic Transfer is responsible for planning organizing managing and evaluating the respective instructional division. This responsibility also includes supervising all respective department faculty assisting in providing professional development activities making hiring recommendations and making necessary Dean is responsible for working closely with the Dean of Academic Instruction and the Chief Financial Officer in the development and all location of respective department budgets and funds. Performs all other duties as directed by the Dean of Academic Instruction the President or the Presidents designee.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

At a minimum the essential functions of this position shall include:

  • Oversee the supervision of respective departmental faculty and coordinate respective instructional activities of all sites at Coastal Alabama Community College by conducting site visits regularly.
  • Review and submit to the Dean of Academic Instruction proposed respective departmental class schedules staffing forms and teaching loads for all courses over nine (9) campuses as well as Early College sites to ensure student centered schedules for day night and online students of all ages.
  • Work with the Coordinator of Instructional Support for Academic Transfer to complete the pay roll load forms each semester for the respective department
  • Work with the Dean of Academic Instruction to staff courses each semester.
  • Work closely with the College administration on the development of annual budgets for approval by the President.
  • Supervise the planning budgeting and expenditures of funds allocated for the respective department.
  • Develop a high level of instruction by working with Division Chairs in the respective department.
  • Maintain oversight for standardization of all syllabi in the respective department.
  • Work with Division Chairs to maintain oversight on all Canvas courses within the respective department.
  • Collaborate with the Center for Teaching and Learning staff on master course templates professional development and faculty onboarding.
  • Collaborate with Human Resources on recruiting hiring onboarding and training new faculty members.
  • Work closely with Associate Deans on reviewing instructional policies and procedures
  • Collaborate with Early College Program staff to support academic planning student success initiatives instructional alignment and retention efforts for Early College students.
  • Serve as an instructional liaison with K12 and postsecondary partner institutions to ensure consistency in curriculum academic expectations and student support services.
  • Work with the Dean of Academic Instruction to maintain oversight of SACSCOC instructional compliance including maintaining oversight for respective departments portion of the Early College program including faculty orientation evaluation Student Services and Library Services to meet SACSCOC compliance standards.
  • Work collaboratively with Division Chairs and partner-site administrators to monitor student performance engagement and retention in Early College and Dual Enrollment courses.
  • Support continuous improvement efforts for Early College and Dual Enrollment programs through data-informed decision-making assessment of student outcomes and implementation of targeted retention strategies.
  • Coordinate with the Director of Institutional Effectiveness Research and Planning and the Dean of Academic Instruction to complete the annual program review process for the respective department.
  • CoordinatewiththeDirectorofInstitutionalEffectivenessResearchandPlanningandtheDean of Academic Instruction to complete the annual development submission and evaluation of Student Learning Outcomes (SLO) and General Education Outcomes for the respective department.
  • EvaluaterespectiveDivisionChairsfull-timefacultyandadjunctfacultymembersintheirassigned duties.
  • Confer with the Dean of Academic Instruction on the renewal or non-renewal of respective full-time instructors contracts.
  • Participate with the respective Division Chairs in the orientation of new full-time faculty and adjunct faculty members.
  • Coordinate with the Instructional Officersand Associate Deanson providing relevant faculty professionaldevelopment.
  • Collaborate with Early College Program staff to support academic planning student success initiatives instructional alignment and retention efforts for Early College students.
  • Serve as an instructional liaison with K12 and postsecondary partner institutions to ensure consistency in curriculum academic expectations and student support services.
  • Provide oversight and academic guidance for Dual Enrollment instructors including orientation ongoing communication instructional support and evaluation to ensure instructional quality and compliance with College and SACSCOC standards.
  • Work collaboratively with Division Chairs and partner-site administrators to monitor student performance engagement and retention in Early College and Dual Enrollment courses.
  • Support continuous improvement efforts for Early College and Dual Enrollment programs through data-informed decision-making assessment of student outcomes and implementation of targeted retention strategies.
  • Reviewrespectivetextbook adoptions and coordinate allrespectiveinstructional material with the Collegebookstore.
  • Coordinate with respective Division Chairs the recruitment of faculty for the department both full-time and adjunct using the following procedure: review credentials interview applicants and recommend to the Dean of Academic Instruction those best qualified for the position(s) available.
  • Work with Dean of Academic Instruction and other College departments to enhance instructional partnerships and apprenticeships with businesses and industries throughout the Colleges nine (9) county service area (if applicable).
  • Enrich instructional services to provide support for the state-wide credentialinginitiatives.
  • Preside over respective departmental meetings and submit copies of the minutes to the Dean of Academic Instruction
  • Plan and facilitate faculty meetings each semester and submit copies of the minutes to the Dean of Academic Instruction
  • Process and submit all requisitions for equipment materials supplies and travel for the respective department
  • Ensure that all College reports and requested information are submitted accurately and promptly.
  • Serve on and provide information to College committees as needed.
  • Assist in student recruitment including career fairs college fairs and community events.
  • Coordinate retention and advising efforts with all students within the respective department and enhance instructional services for adult learners.
  • Oversee the grade appeal process for the respective department
  • Participate in state regional and/or national organizations to stat abreast instructional trends and best practices.
  • Strengthen relationships with strategic College partners such as admissions student services financial aid and transfer institutions.
  • Coordinate with respective division chairs the inventory records of all equipment assigned to the respective department and periodically reconcile their records with those maintained by the Dean of Academic Instruction when applicable.
  • Provide oversight of the Orientation to College and/or Workforce Readiness Courses.
  • Act as liaison between the respective department and appropriate administrators to ensure that policies and procedures are followed.
  • Maintainahighly professional attitude and demeanor at alltimes.
  • Comply with ACCS and College policies as well as state and federal laws.
  • ProvideresponsibleadequateandsatisfactoryleadershiponthecampusandwithintheCollege.
  • Demonstrate excellent leadership traits and skills in all aspects of position.
  • Communicate positively and professionally in all aspects of theposition.
  • Ensure positive promotion of the College and integration of all campuses within the College.
  • Promote the Coastal Alabama Community College brand at all times.

EVALUATION OF PERFORMANCE
The job performance of the Associate Dean will be evaluated at a minimum annually by the Dean of Academic Instruction.

Qualifications

Required Qualifications

  1. Masters Degree in a related field from a regionally accredited institution
  2. The appropriate teaching credentials and experience to teach a course or courses in the respective department at the postsecondary level is required
  3. Three(3) yearsexperience as a division chair or department chair at the post secondary level is required.
  4. Ability to travel and work on multiple campuses is required.
  5. Proficiency in communication skills isrequired.
  6. Ability to work well with others and work under pressure isrequired.


Preferred Qualifications

  1. Appropriate teaching credentials and experience to teach a course or courses in a STEM discipline are preferred.
  2. Experience teaching K-12/Dual Enrollment students is preferred.
