This is anopenexamination. To be eligible under this position all applicants MUST be a U.S. Citizen or have a permanent resident card. Applicants must be a high school graduate or possess a G.E.D and be at least 18 years of age.

Job Description

General Statement of Duties:The Millwright is responsible for the maintenance repair replacement and renovation projects of all City Buildings. Attends to the heating boilers air handling and air conditioning equipment of City Buildings. Works under the supervision of the Supervisor of Building Maintenance and/or a designee. Distinguishing Features of the Class: This position is responsible for performing a wide variety of building maintenance repairs and improvements of City buildings offices and equipment.

Examples of Work: Performs various skilled and semi-skilled tasks in City Buildings including but not limited to; repairing remodeling and maintaining buildings and related equipment. General cleaning; electrical and plumbing repairs painting carpentry and masonry work. Maintains building security. Operates and maintains building heating and air conditioning systems. Follows a preventative maintenance program for boilers air handling and air conditioning equipment. Lubricates motors adjusts fan belts and change the absence of a licensed Boiler Operator may be required to maintain water treatment. May direct a crew of Laborers and/or Maintenance Operators unless a supervisor is present. Other related duties not listed but consistent with and similar in nature to the above examples may also be required.

Required Knowledge Skills and Abilities: Thorough knowledge of all building repair and remodeling techniques and methods. Knowledge of heating and cooling systems. Ability to work with all voltages of electricity. Ability to read blue prints. Ability to use various power and hand tools. Ability to work with various chemicals and solvents. Ability to lift heavy objects. Ability to read write and communicate verbally. Ability to work with mathematical computations. Ability to walk climb ladders bend stoop and stand for extended periods of time. Ability to work independently without constant supervision. Must possess valid Ohio Drivers license at all times.

Acceptable Experience and Training: High School education or equivalent. Three (3) years experience in all phases of building repair and remodeling; experience with the general operation of heating and air conditioning equipment; or an equivalent combination of education experience and/or training which provides the required knowledge skills and abilities.

Testing Information

SHOULD TEN OR FEWER QUALIFIED APPLICATIONS BE RECEIVED NAMES WILL BE PLACED ON AN ELIGIBILITY LIST IN ACCORDANCE WITH THEIR APPLICATION FILING DATE. SHOULD MORE THAN TEN QUALIFIED APPLICANTS REGISTER FOR THIS EXAMINATION THOSE APPLICANTS WILL BE NOTIFIED OF THE FORMAT LOCATION DATE AND TIME OF THE EXAMINATION.

RATING
Your name will be placed on a list of eligible candidates upon receiving a passing score. Once the list has been established your name will remain on the list for a period of one (1) year.

Per OAC Rule 123: 1-9-01 an applicant who has competed in a civil service examination cannot repeat that examination or take an examination for the same classification withinFOUR MONTHS from the date of original examination unless an alternative form of examination is given or unless other standards are specified in the examination announcement.

IMPORTANT NOTICE TO VETERANS
As provided in ORC 124.23C any person who has completed service in the uniformed services who have been honorably discharged from the uniformed services or transferred to the reserve with evidence of satisfactory service and who is an Ohio resident and any member of a reserve component of the armed forces of the United States including the Ohio National Guard who has completed more than 180 days of active duty service pursuant to an executive order of the President of the United States or an act of Congress of the United States may file with the director a certificate of service or honorable discharge (DD-214 Long version) and upon this filing the person shall receive an additional credit of twenty percent (20%) of the persons total grade given in the examination in which the person receives a passing grade.

A member in good standing of a reserve component of the armed forces of the United States including the Ohio National Guard who successfully completes the members initial entry-level training shall receive a credit of fifteen percent (15%) of the persons total grade given in the examination in which the person receives a passing grade.
