A large flagship acute care hospital in Western North Carolina is seeking an experienced Director of Sterile Processing to lead a high-volume Sterile Processing Department. This tertiary and quaternary care facility serves as a regional referral center and supports a broad range of surgical and procedural services across multiple service lines.
Position Overview
The Director of Sterile Processing provides strategic operational and administrative leadership for the Sterile Processing Department. This role ensures compliant high-quality and efficient instrument reprocessing services that support perioperative and procedural areas in a complex acute care environment.
Key Responsibilities
Provide overall leadership and oversight of Sterile Processing Department operations staffing and performance
Ensure compliance with regulatory accreditation infection control and sterilization standards
Lead quality control programs and continuous process improvement initiatives
Collaborate with perioperative leadership and clinical departments to ensure effective service integration
Oversee recruitment onboarding competency validation and ongoing education of department staff
Manage departmental resources workflow and equipment to support clinical operations
Utilize data and performance metrics to drive productivity quality and operational outcomes
Represent the department in hospital-wide initiatives and external professional or community activities
Required Qualifications
Bachelors Degree in Business Nursing or Surgical Technology Required
Certified Sterile Processing credential (CRCST or CSPDT) Required
IAHCSMM / HSPA Certification Required
Minimum 5 years of Sterile Processing experience in an acute care setting Required
5 years of progressive leadership experience in Central Sterile Processing Required
Acute care hospital experience supporting multiple service lines Required

Trauma Level: Level II Trauma Center
Leadership Structure: 7 Team Leads
Service Lines Supported: OR CVOR Endoscopy Labor & Delivery Inpatient & Outpatient Ambulatory Clinics
