What Youll Do
- Examine and interpretgynecologic and non-gynecologic cytology specimensaccurately and efficiently following established laboratory procedures.
- Issuefinal diagnosesfor negative GYN cytology cases; submit all non-GYN results forpathologist reviewand final report release.
- Verifyspecimen acceptability and patient identificationthroughout all processing stages.
- Maintainquality control (QC) proficiency testing andCLIA/DHMH compliancedocumentation in a timely and organized manner.
- Assist withfine needle aspiration (FNA)proceduresprepare and stain slides for evaluation.
- Accurately input test requests and results intoCernerwhile maintaining confidentiality and data integrity.
- Proactively expand your technical knowledge and participate in continuing education.
- Communicate effectively and courteously with pathologists nurses and other healthcare professionals contributing to a collaborative lab culture.
REQUIREMENTS:
- Bachelors degree in Life Sciences Medical Technology or related field.
- 13 years of cytology or related clinical laboratory experience.
- Certification:Cytologist (ASCP or equivalent).
