Floor Cheerleading Activity after school

Purpose of Role

The purpose of the Cheerleading Activity Leader (by floor) is to provide a safe engaging and well-structured after-school program that promotes physical activity teamwork confidence and school spirit among students. The role supports students social and emotional development through positive encouragement discipline and age-appropriate cheerleading skills.

The Activity Leader is responsible for supervising students by assigned floor ensuring their safety at all times and fostering an inclusive and respectful environment. The leader plans and delivers structured cheerleading activities that develop coordination rhythm strength and collaboration while reinforcing school values and positive behavior.

Additionally the role includes maintaining clear communication with school staff supporting transitions at the end of the activity and ensuring students are dismissed safely according to school procedures.

ISP Floor Cheerleading Activity after school Key Responsibilities

  • Supervise and manage students assigned to the designated floor during the after-school cheerleading activity ensuring student safety and well-being at all times.
  • Plan and deliver structured age-appropriate cheerleading sessions that promote physical fitness coordination teamwork and school spirit.
  • Establish and maintain clear routines expectations and positive behavior management in line with ISP policies and school values.
  • Ensure all activities are inclusive respectful and accessible to students of varying abilities and experience levels.
  • Take and maintain accurate attendance records for each session.
  • Support safe transitions at the start and end of the activity ensuring students are dismissed according to school procedures and authorized pick-up arrangements.
  • Communicate effectively with colleagues after-school coordinators and relevant staff regarding student progress concerns or incidents.
  • Follow all ISP safeguarding health and safety and supervision guidelines at all times.
  • Maintain appropriate use and care of equipment and facilities used during the activity.
  • Act as a positive role model promoting teamwork confidence discipline and respect among students.

Skills Qualifications and Experience

Skills

  • Strong classroom and group management skills with the ability to supervise students safely in an after-school setting.
  • Ability to motivate and engage students through positive reinforcement and inclusive practices.
  • Effective communication skills with students colleagues and school staff.
  • Strong organizational and time-management skills to plan and deliver structured sessions.
  • Ability to promote teamwork confidence discipline and school spirit.
  • Awareness of safeguarding responsibilities and student well-being.
  • Ability to follow school and ISP policies and procedures consistently.

Qualifications

  • Relevant qualification or training in cheerleading dance sports physical education or a related field (preferred).
  • First Aid and/or CPR certification (preferred or willingness to obtain).
  • Safeguarding training in line with ISP requirements (required or willingness to complete).
  • High school diploma or equivalent (minimum requirement).

Experience

  • Previous experience working with children or young people in a school sports or extracurricular setting.
  • Experience leading or supporting cheerleading dance or physical activity programs.
  • Experience managing groups of students in a structured environment.
  • Experience working in an international or multicultural school environment (desirable).
