Madden Industrial Craftsmen is seeking a Diesel Truck & Trailer Mechanic to support fleet maintenance and repair operations for our client in NE Portland OR. This role focuses on bumper-to-bumper diagnostics repairs and DOT-compliant maintenance of trucks and trailers. The ideal candidate is mechanically strong safety-focused and comfortable working independently with privately owned tools.
Pay: $32$37/hr DOE
Schedule: Swing Shift 2:30pm11:00pm
Key Responsibilities
- Perform bumper-to-bumper maintenance and repairs on trucks and trailers
- Complete DOT Annual Vehicle Inspections in compliance with regulations
- Troubleshoot and repair low-voltage electrical systems
- Diagnose and repair steering systems
- Service and repair pneumatic air brake systems
- Troubleshoot and repair hydraulic systems (cylinders PTOs valves pumps)
- Perform basic engine and transmission troubleshooting including clutches
- Repair drivetrain components including brakes differentials drivelines and wheel ends
- Complete accurate written and computer-generated work orders
- Perform occasional building and yard maintenance as needed
- Maintain a clean organized and safe work environment
- Perform some welding and fabrication tasks
What You Bring
- Minimum 2 year of diesel truck and trailer maintenance experience
- Strong mechanical aptitude and troubleshooting skills
- Knowledge of DOT compliance and inspection requirements
- Ability to maintain vehicles to state and federal DOT standards
- Basic computer skills and legible documentation habits
- Ability to operate vehicles up to and including Class 8 trucks
- Ability to operate small forklifts after proper training
- Valid drivers license with a clean driving record
- Adequately stocked personal toolbox
- Team-oriented attitude and strong work ethic
Maybe You Have
- Vocational training or technical certificate
- Engine rebuilding experience
- Familiarity with Cummins Insite Detroit DDEC or CAT ET
- Class A B or C CDL
- Welding or fabrication experience
