Summary:
The QC Technician I performs basic inspection testing and documentation activities to ensure product quality and compliance with company procedures. This entry-level role supports inâprocess and final inspections of tubing strip welds and finished products under direct supervision. The QC Technician I uses standard measuring and testing equipment follows established work instructions and maintains accurate records. Rotating day and night shifts may be required based on production needs.
Job Duties/Responsibilities
- Perform inâprocess and final inspections on API 5ST 5LCP welded strip and tubing products under direct supervision.
- Conduct basic dimensional inspections using standard measuring and testing equipment.
- Assist with strip weld fitting spool and visual inspections during production rollâup.
- Support basic destructive testing activities such as sample collection preparation and labeling.
- Assist NDT personnel with MT PT UT ET or EC activities as trained (no independent interpretation required).
- Follow shop routers/work orders and inspection sequences as directed.
- Document receiving inâprocess and final inspections accurately and maintain QC files and electronic logs.
- Report potential quality issues nonconformances or irregularities to the QC Supervisor or Leadman.
- Perform basic equipment checks and support simple calibration tasks under supervision.
- Maintain work areas tools and equipment in a clean and organized condition.
- Communicate inspection results to Mill Operators Welders Supervisors and QC team members.
- Support Engineering Service Operations or R&D teams by preparing samples or images as requested.
- Assist and support 3rdâparty inspectors as needed.
- Follow all company safety policies QMS procedures and participate in safety meetings/trainings.
Skills/Knowledge
- Basic understanding of dimensional inspection and manufacturing processes.
- Familiarity with measuring/testing tools (micrometers calipers indicators gauges).
- Ability to learn and follow written procedures QMS requirements and technical work instructions.
- Basic math skills including fractions decimals and unit conversions.
- Ability to legibly complete required documentation logs and electronic forms.
- Understanding of safe work practices and ability to follow safety guidelines.
- Strong attention to detail and willingness to learn QC and NDT processes.
Education
- High School Diploma or equivalent.
Experience
- 1 year of manufacturing inspection mechanical or related experience preferred.
- Exposure to QC NDT or mechanical testing is a plus but not required training provided.
- Ability to perform moderate physical labor lift up to 50 lbs and work in varying environmental conditions.
