Purpose
Contributes to the overall success of Government Affairs in Canada by providing leadership and strategic planning of the Banks Canadian government engagement including all levels of government.
Is this role right for you In this role you will be responsible for:
Leads the development and implementation ofastrategicCanadian government engagementstrategy in support of ouroverall government affairs and advocacyobjectives working closely with various stakeholders across the Bank particularly inPublic Affairsacross regional hubsandbusiness lines
Implementation of the plan will include liaisingandspeakingdirectly with elected and unelected government officials and other relevant stakeholdersand support engagement of senior executives.
Communicates emerging issues or opportunities to internal stakeholders andidentifiestimelysolutions and policy advice where applicable. Activelysolicitsinput from colleagues and other internal groups to provide adviceresourcesand insights to senior executives as they look to achieve their public policy and advocacyobjectivesacross Canada.
Adapt to shifting business and/orgovernment andpriorities andlooksfor opportunities to engage government stakeholders with relevant andtimelyinformation whilemaintainingfocus on keyobjectives.
Manage and support governmentrequests or complaints and ensuretimelyresponses and engagement where necessary.
Manage andmaintainlobbying policies/regulatory obligations in variousjurisdictions.
Contributes to the effective functioning of the Global Corporate Affairs team by fostering effective working relationships across the function and creating a collaborative culture based on transparency enterprise-wide thinking and innovation.
Understand how the Banks risk appetite and risk culture should be considered in day-to-day activities and decisions. Actively pursues effective and efficient operations of his/her respective areas while ensuring the adequacy adherence to and effectiveness of day-to-day business controls to meet obligations with respect to operational risk regulatory compliance risk AML/ATF risk and conduct risk including but not limited to responsibilities under the Operational Risk Management Framework Regulatory Compliance Risk Management Framework AML/ATF Global Handbook and the Guidelines for Business Conduct.
