The Office of Administrative Services Department is actively seeking two Fleet Assistant Technicians.

This is fleet maintenance support work operating and maintaining a garage complex transporting equipment and personnel and establishing and maintaining service and inventory records. Work requires a knowledge of uninvolved standardized work routines used in maintaining garage facilities which involves the use of common equipment or uncomplicated machinery. Contacts require courtesy tact and effectiveness in dealing with others and includes contacts to request or provide information ask questions or obtain clarification. Work is performed following established routines procedures and standing instructions and is patterned involving similar situations and generally requiring only the choice of the correct procedure. Work is normally performed in a service garage environment where risks and hazards are substantial but are known somewhat predictable and mostly controllable. Worker may operate automotive equipment and standard hand tools and equipment associated with the operation and maintenance of a garage complex. Physical demands consist mainly of moving from one work location to another sitting or standing at a workstation for extended periods of time; and dependent upon assigned work location may be required to lift or move objects weighing 50 pounds or more. Work is performed under general supervision where the work assignments are subject to instructions and established work routines and the worker is given latitude to rearrange the sequence based on changing work situations or workflow.
Ability to read and write English.
Experience working in maintenance and/or a garage is preferred.
Ability to lift and move objects weighing up to 50 pounds is required.
LICENSING/CERTIFICATION/REGISTRATION:
A valid drivers license is required prior to appointment and must be maintained during employment in this class.
A valid Class B Commercial Drivers License (CDL) with P Endorsement depending on assignment may be required and must be maintained during employment in this class.
A valid Class C Commercial Drivers License (CDL) with P Endorsement depending on assignment may be required and must be maintained during employment in this class.
Class IV Forklift Certification is required to be obtained within probation period and maintained during employment.
Must qualify for prior to appointment obtain and maintain during employment in this class a City of Jacksonville Certification as a Public Driver.
OTHER REQUIREMENTS:
The probationary period for this class is six months.
This classification performs safety-sensitive functions and is subject to pre-employment random and other drug/alcohol testing programs as set forth in the City of Jacksonvilles Drug Free Workplace Policy (0401).
