Position Summary:
The Speech Language Pathologist evaluates and treats speech language cognitive-communication and swallowing disorders. This role focuses on improving patients ability to communicate effectively and swallow safely through evidence-based assessment and intervention in a clinical healthcare setting.
Key Responsibilities:
Clinical Care:
Perform direct patient care including assessment and treatment of speech language and swallowing disorders.
Conduct initial evaluations develop individualized plans of care and provide ongoing therapy services.
Complete progress notes discharge summaries and all required clinical documentation in a timely and accurate manner.
Care Coordination & Education:
Collaborate with interdisciplinary healthcare team members to provide patient-centered care.
Educate healthcare staff on evaluation findings treatment recommendations and current best practices.
Develop and deliver in-service presentations and educational materials as needed.
Administrative & Support Duties:
Communicate with insurance providers regarding patient benefits as required.
Prepare for evaluation and treatment sessions to ensure efficient workflow.
Provide patient reminder calls and assist patients and families in navigating the facility.
Maintain a clean and organized treatment environment following therapy sessions.
Perform additional duties as assigned to support department operations.
Education Certifications & Licensure:
Masters degree in Speech-Language Pathology from an accredited program required.
Eligible for Speech-Language Pathologist licensure in the practicing state.
Active unrestricted state Speech-Language Pathologist license required.
Basic Life Support (BLS) certification required.
Valid current drivers license required.
Experience Requirements:
Knowledge Skills & Abilities:
Strong assessment treatment planning and documentation skills.
Intermediate proficiency with computers and electronic documentation systems.
Excellent attention to detail and accuracy.
Strong analytical organizational and problem-solving abilities.
Effective interpersonal and communication skills.
Ability to work independently while collaborating within a multidisciplinary team.
