About us!

The Youth Program Leader plans and leads activities for youth ages 1118 creating a safe welcoming and supportive environment. As a front-line worker youll build positive relationships with youth families and the community. This role requires a Class 5 license and availability in Parksville as needed.

Key Responsibilities
  • Plan lead and evaluate fun safe and age-appropriate activities aligned with Club policies mission and vision

  • Foster positive and healthy relationships among youth participants

  • Address youth issues incidents or crises providing support and reporting to the Youth Programs Manager or relevant agencies as needed

  • Ensure safe use and maintenance of program equipment and facilities including van/bus inspections for participant transport

  • Maintain accurate program records (attendance activity logs statistics)

  • Support volunteers and practicum students assisting with program delivery

  • Participate in program evaluation goal setting and training opportunities

  • Administer first aid according to Club policies

  • Assist with special events promotions or other duties as required

Qualifications
  • Preference given to candidates with courses diploma or degree in Recreation Management Child & Youth Care or Education

  • Valid Class 5 Drivers License required; Class 4 considered an asset

  • Valid Community Care First Aid (or equivalent)

  • Minimum 1 year of experience working with youth; experience with youth with special needs or behavioural challenges is an asset

Note: For programming needs male candidates are preferred for this role.
