Job Summary

Position Overview

The Optometrist will provide comprehensive eye care services manage ocular disease and participate in pre- and post-operative care for surgical patients. This role is ideal for an optometrist who values clinical excellence teamwork and long-term patient relationships.

Key Responsibilities

Perform comprehensive eye examinations
Diagnose and manage ocular diseases including:
Glaucoma
Diabetic retinopathy
Macular degeneration
Dry eye disease
Provide pre- and post-operative care in collaboration with ophthalmology
Prescribe glasses contact lenses and therapeutic treatments
Accurately document care in the electronic medical record
Educate patients on diagnoses treatment options and long-term eye health
Collaborate closely with technicians optical staff and physicians to ensure high-quality patient care

Qualifications

Doctor of Optometry (O.D.) degree from an accredited optometry school
Licensed or board-eligible in the state of Michigan
Strong clinical and diagnostic skills
Excellent communication and patient care skills
Interest in medical optometry and surgical co-management
Prior medical or clinical experience preferred but not required
