Job Summary

New Heights Charter School is Massachusetts only public school that involves all grades (6-12) in the Early College approach. Nearly all our 11th and 12th graders are full-time students on a college campus with younger students earning college credits at the school. You will join a committed creative team of educators who provide academic and social-emotional support to young people coming from high-need backgrounds ensuring they are college and career ready. We support our staff with a wide array of professional development opportunities and coaching. Reporting to the Director of Special Education the ABA Therapist will assist the Director of Special Education and Principal in the overall administration of the educational programs as it relates to support services for students. The ABA therapist will implement individualized behavior intervention plans BIPs) for students with special needs focusing on reducing challenging behaviors and increasing social-emotional communication and academic skills.EARLY COLLEGE FOCUS

  • Culturally-aware culturally-sensitive and culturally-responsive. Duties and Responsibilities
    • Implement monitor and adjust individualized behavior intervention plans to reduce negative behaviors.
    • Deliver 1:1 intervention and support
    • Implement behavior reduction and skill-building strategies within individual and small group sessions.
    • Collect and record data
    • Provide therapy sessions to improve academic social and functional skills
    • Collaborate with teachers and other support staff and provide updates on student progress toward goals.
    • Follow safety protocols and ethical standards in supporting students.
    • Maintain up-to-date knowledge and expertise on evidence-based practices legal mandates and service delivery to students eligible for 504 services.
    • Participate in a variety of meetings (e.g. department district curriculum parent groups and conferences in-service etc.) for the purpose of representing both the department/district and ensuring the development of articulated services.
    • Respond to parents building administration district administration etc. for the purpose of providing information assistance and/or direction.
    • Serve as a liaison between the building student services department and district student services leadership for the purpose of enhancing communications between all parties.
    • Attend training and team meetings to stay current with ABA best practices.
