As a Lead Algorithm Engineer within GE Healthcares Bone & Metabolic Health (BMH) division you will drive innovation in acquisition calibration and analysis algorithms for advanced imaging systems. This role combines expertise in AI-driven algorithm development with senior-level software engineering responsibilities ensuring robust scalable and clinically impactful solutions. You will collaborate with cross-functional teams including clinical researchers data scientists and system engineers to deliver next-generation diagnostic capabilities.

Job Description

Key Responsibilities:

Algorithm Development & AI Integration

  • Design implement and optimize algorithms for image acquisition calibration reconstruction and quantitative analysis in bone and metabolic health applications
  • Develop calibration algorithms to ensure accurate and consistent measurements across imaging devices and patient populations
  • Leverage machine learning and deep learning techniques to improve image quality reduce noise and enhance diagnostic accuracy
  • Validate AI and calibration models using large-scale clinical datasets ensuring compliance with regulatory standards
  • Conduct performance benchmarking and statistical analysis to ensure algorithm robustness and reliability

Software Engineering Leadership

  • Lead the design and development of software components for algorithm deployment within GE Healthcare platforms
  • Ensure adherence to software development best practices including code reviews unit testing and continuous integration
  • Collaborate with product management and system engineering to translate clinical and business requirements into technical specifications
  • Mentor junior engineers and contribute to technical leadership within the team

Cross-Functional Collaboration

  • Work closely with hardware teams to optimize acquisition protocols and integrate algorithms into imaging workflows
  • Partner with clinical experts to validate algorithm performance and usability in real-world scenarios
  • Support regulatory submissions by providing documentation and evidence of algorithm performance and safety

Qualifications:

Required

  • Masters or Ph.D. in Computer Science Biomedical Engineering Electrical Engineering or related field
  • 8 years of experience in algorithm development for medical imaging or related domains.
  • Strong proficiency in Python C and frameworks such as TensorFlow PyTorch
  • Expertise in image processing signal processing calibration techniques and machine learning
  • Experience with software architecture design patterns and agile development methodologies

Preferred

  • Familiarity with DICOM standards PACS systems and healthcare interoperability
  • Familiarity with Cybersecurity standards
  • Experience in FDA-regulated environments and knowledge of IEC 62304
  • Strong understanding of bone density measurement metabolic health imaging or DXA technology
  • Proven track record of leading technical projects and mentoring teams
