About the Role

Dow Jones premium platform WSJ Pro is seeking a reporter to cover financial distress debt restructuring and corporate this role you will be part of a team of reporters producing market-moving scoops data-centered analysis and insightful features for WSJ Pro Bankruptcy serving its professional readership as well as the Wall Street Journals general audience.

This job calls for a high-energy scoop-getter who can break news on the biggest developments and disputes in the distressed-debt market covering troubled companies that may need to restructure. The ideal candidate will have the news judgment to pursue the most impactful scoops the ability to break the scoop first and a sharp eye for details that can bring these stories to life.

A strong background in restructuring and bankruptcy is preferred as well as a solid knowledge of corporate finance and business generally. The position is based in New York.

You Will:

  • Cover corporate restructuring distressed-debt investing and chapter 11 bankruptcy cases
  • Collaborate closely with colleagues to uncover proprietary stories on distressed companies their investors and their legal and financial advisers
  • Turn around market-moving scoops on tight deadlines
  • Write data-centered analysis and insightful features
  • Contribute to Pro Bankruptcys flagship daily newsletter and multimedia content
  • Be a collegial team player who is comfortable collaborating as well as doing solo work

You Have:

  • At least 3-5 years of journalism experience
  • A nose for news that your competitors are missing
  • The ability to explain complex concepts in clear and engaging ways
  • Ideally experience covering corporate finance restructuring or a related field
