General Description
Under direction repairs services and performs major and minor repairs to agency vans automobiles trucks emergency equipment tractors and other power driven equipment ensuring people with IDD can get out into the community to lead fulfilling lives.
Essential Functions The following are minimum requirements of the position
Inspect vehicles and related equipment to locate and determine the extent of necessary overhaul or repair.
Perform general overhaul and repair work on gasoline and other automotive and mechanical equipment.
Inspect adjust and replace necessary parts including valves hoses belts and alternators.
Maintain vehicles in accordance with State of RI inspection criteria.
Repair cooling fuel and exhaust systems.
Diagnose repair and maintain hydraulic lifts.
Perform preventive maintenance work on vehicles including lubrication and oil changes.
Operate vehicles and equipment to aid in diagnostics; pick-up and deliver vehicles and parts.
Clean and maintain the garage area and equipment.
Inventory order and properly secure tools supplies and materials for garage. Research compare and locate parts equipment and vehicles.
Maintain records on all maintenance and repair work performed; track recalls inspection dates and warranties for all vehicles.
Performs miscellaneous job-related duties as assigned.
Knowledge Skills and Abilities Required
Knowledge of methods materials equipment and tools used in vehicle/equipment maintenance/repair.
Knowledge of standard practices equipment and tools of the automotive and equipment mechanical trade.
Strong organizational skills ability to prioritize tasks analyze data and meet multiple deadlines.
Perform a variety of duties in diagnosing troubleshooting and repairing vehicles/equipment/components.
Inspect vehicles and equipment to locate mechanical defects. Diagnose mechanical and hydraulic problems and to determine corrective procedures.
Establish and maintain effective working relationships with those contacted in the course of work.
Ability to take a teamwork approach to the job by cooperating with others offering to help others when needed and considering larger organization or team goals rather than individual concerns. Includes the ability to build a constructive team
OSHA certified and trained on occupational hazards and standard safety procedures.
Basic principles of record keeping.
Working Conditions and Physical Effort
Work involves moderate exposure to unusual elements such as variations in temperatures dirt dust fumes smoke unpleasant odors and/or loud noises.
Moderate physical effort; regularly required to reach with hands/arms stoop kneel bend/twist and hear.
Regularly required to stand walk and sit; lift/transfer 50-70 lbs. alone or more with assistance of device.
Work environment involves some exposure to hazards or physical risks which require following basic safety precautions.
General Requirements
High school diploma or GED. Technical training or certificate (ASE Certified) preferred.
A minimum of 3 to 5 years of general fleet maintenance and repair experience.
Valid drivers license and good driving record. Must be insurable by agencys insurance company.
Acceptable BCI background.
Communicate respectfully and courteously with businesses and employees.
What we offer you:
Pay Rate: $33-35 hourly contingent upon experience.
Weekly Hours: 40
Schedule: Monday-Friday 7-3 PM / 8-4 PM Some flexibility required
