Asphalt Milling Machine Operator (Road Grinder)
Location: GTA & surrounding areas
Employment Type: Full Time/Seasonal
Job Description
We are currently seeking an experienced Asphalt Milling Machine Operator (Road Grinder) to operate large asphalt milling / cold planer machines on municipal commercial and heavy civil road construction projects.
This role is ideal for a skilled operator who takes pride in precision work equipment care and safe jobsite execution.
Key Responsibilities
- Operate large asphalt milling / road grinder machines safely and efficiently
- Perform depth-controlled milling in accordance with project specifications
- Conduct daily pre-trip and equipment inspections
- Work closely with ground crews truck drivers and supervisors to ensure smooth operations
- Follow all health & safety policies traffic control plans and site procedures
- Maintain clean orderly and safe work areas
- Report mechanical issues deficiencies or hazards immediately
- Complete required documentation (inspection logs work tickets etc.)
Qualifications & Requirements
- Minimum 23 years experience operating asphalt milling / road grinder equipment
- Experience with large cold planer machines (e.g. Wirtgen CAT Roadtec or similar)
- Valid drivers licence (AZ/DZ an asset)
- Strong understanding of road construction environments
- Ability to work long hours nights and weekends as required
- Physically capable of working in outdoor construction conditions
- Strong communication skills and a safety-first mindset
