Western State Hospital is seeking a full time Food Service Manager I to provide daily oversight guidance and coordination for Operations (tray assembly and sanitation) Production Catering Storeroom Transportation and Office areas of the kitchen; serve as a ServSafe proctor/instructor administrator of departmental HACCP food safety program to ensure explicit documentation for regulatory agencies such as VDH and JC; act as a primary assistant to Department director to coordinate foodservice operations and foodservice delivery intra- and interdepartmentally; participate in budget development tracking and cost containment purchasing of food and equipment personnel and administrative matters and ensures kitchen operations meet appropriate state and federal regulatory guidelines; collaborate with the Dietitians to develop appropriate therapeutic diets based on dietary restrictions; collaborate with RDs to perform meal rounds on units counsel patients on dietary restrictions and document preference statements made by patients; encourage vendors to obtain SWaM certification as per the agency SWaM Plan and Executive Order No. 20 (2014); and ensure requirements of the performance planning and evaluation system are met and evaluations are completed by established deadlines with proper documentation.
Minimum Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent
- Extensive supervisory experience in food service
Additional Considerations
- Prior supervisory experience in institutional or hospital food service
- Formal education in management nutrition foodservice management or related field
- Prior experience with special diets
- Certified Dietary Manager credential (must be obtained within one year of employment if not currently certified)
- Serv Safe certified (must be obtained within one year of employment if not currently certified)
- Bilingual
- Veteran or veteran spouse
