The Role
The Legal Assistant will provide comprehensive administrative and document support to lawyers practicing in general litigation with a preference for experience in family law debtor/creditor and/or employment law. This role requires strong technical skills excellent time management and the ability to manage competing priorities while maintaining accuracy and confidentiality.
Key Responsibilities
- Prepare edit and manage legal correspondence pleadings and court documents
- Maintain accurate and organized client files records and deadlines
- Support lawyers with document production formatting proofreading and filing
- Manage calendars appointments and time-sensitive deliverables
- Utilize legal and client management systems to support file administration
- Communicate professionally with clients courts and internal team members
- Ensure accuracy confidentiality and compliance with firm procedures
Qualifications & Experience
- Minimum 5 years of experience as a Legal Assistant in a law firm setting
- Experience in family law debtor/creditor and/or employment law preferred
- Strong understanding of legal terminology documentation and court processes
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office 365 (Word Excel Outlook SharePoint)
- Experience with PCLaw or similar legal management systems considered an asset
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Strong organizational skills and exceptional attention to detail
- Self-motivated adaptable and able to manage multiple priorities independently
