Mission statement
The mission of the DotHouse Health Advanced Practice Provider Residency Program is to bridge the transition to independent practice by equipping new nurse practitioners with the clinical excellence cultural competence and leadership skills necessary to provide comprehensive compassionate care in federally qualified health centers. Through structured mentorship interdisciplinary learning and engagement with our community the program fosters clinical confidence and a lifelong commitment to advancing health equity.
Timeline
Application process opens in February with rolling admissions
One year of residency training starts in October
One year of supported independent practice as a staff NP begins the following October
Program Structure
Resident Sessions: residents see their own patients and are precepted by experienced MDs and NPs in primary/urgent care
Mentorship Sessions: residents work from an experienced providers schedule in a collaborative manner
Specialty Sessions: residents see patients in conjunction with a specialty provider
Weekly didactic/seminars/workshops directly related to primary care topics and procedures
Transitional RN Sessions: residents learn outpatient clinic workflow and manage triage alongside experienced clinic RNs
Weekly one-on-one advisory sessions with an experienced provider throughout the 24-month commitment
Extra administrative time to allow for patient care outside of visits
Options to become involved in Quality Improvement or other special projects

Details
- Residents are hired as full-time employees with benefits.
- Year 1 salary $87700 plus benefits.
- Year 2 salary $115000 plus benefits.
- Most providers qualify for significant loan repayment opportunities through HRSAs National Health Service Corps Nurse Corps Loan Repayment Program or state programs such as Massachusetts League of Community Health Centers student loan repayment programs. DHH is considered a high-need Federally Qualified Health Center (FQHC) with a HPSA score of 17.
- Ample opportunities for professional growth throughout the 24 month program.
- Residents are periodically evaluated using academic tools relying on self-evaluations as well as faculty and mentor evaluations.
- We hope residents will consider longer term employment as a provider at DHH after the program. This will be determined by the fit of the provider and availability of positions after the 2-year program.

Important dates:
- February 2026: application cycle opens
- March-May 2026: interviews and acceptance letters
- October 2026: 2026 residents year #1 starts
- October 2027: 2026 residents year #2 starts
Qualifications
The program is open to any new FNP who:
Graduates by June 2026 or within 3 years of graduation
Has interest in community health primary care and making a difference in patients lives
Knows they will benefit from a supportive next step in their career to become a confident and effective health care provider
Can commit to a two-year residency program at Dot House
Accreditation
Dot House Health NP Residency is working toward accreditation as an Advanced Practice Provider Fellowship/Residency Program through a national credentialing project.
APPLICANT REQUIREMENTS:
- Applicants must agree to two years of full-time employment as described above
- Applicants must be Family or Adult/Gero Nurse Practitioners
- Applicants must be a citizen of the US or a foreign national with a visa permitting permanent residency in the US or a non-citizen national. Individuals on temporary or student visas are not eligible
- Applicants must graduate on or before June 2026 including all clinical hours requirements
- Applicants are required to sit for their boards as soon as possible. This is usually in April prior to graduation (if accepted the Residency Director will work with you on this)
- Accepted residents are required to be completely credentialed and privileged prior to starting clinical sessions (facilitated by Dot House Human Resources)
- Applicants must agree to all future HRSA grant requirements such as the collection of demographic information
APPLICATION TIMELINE:
- Applications are posted and may be submitted as soon as February 2026
- The final due date to submit the application in entirety with all supporting documents is March 1 2026
- Interviews will occur in multiple rounds through March and April
- We aim to extend offers of employment by the end of April 2026

- A color copy of a photo identification. This may include a license passport or student ID.
- RN APRN or PA license (if available)
- Curriculum Vitae (CV) that clearly includes the following:
Ø Graduate School Clinical experience
Ø Registered Nurse or other clinical experience
Ø Relevant experiences outside of Nursing or PA school that shows your career trajectory
Ø Highlight volunteer and leadership experience capacity in which you worked and duration
Alternative to a license you may submit a letter from your school that includes the following: (Note: You may write the letter and have your school print/sign it)
- On school letterhead
- Applicant/students full name
- Applicant/student is in good standing in your program
- Anticipated date of completed clinical requirements
- Anticipated date of graduation
- School commits to help expedite the credentialing process by allowing you to sit for your boards as early as possible (prior to graduation)
ESSAYS
- You must complete and submit two essays as outlined on the next page.
- Attach each in a PDF format; 12 pt. font 250-word limit per essay.
ESSAY #1: Submit a narrative response to the following questions. This is an opportunity to reflect upon and communicate your personal qualifications interest and motivation for this residency. You may answer as separate or combined responses.
- Reflect on a specific experience in your life (personal professional or educational) that demonstrates the path that led you to choose the role of Nurse Practitioner or Physician Assistant as a career.
- Comment on personal qualities that draw you to any or all the following: Primary Care Community Health Family Medicine.
- If you have specific areas of interest (specialty or setting) that are essential for your happiness as a clinician share here.
ESSAY #2: Submit a narrative response to one or both of the following
- What specifically draws you to want to work at DotHouse Health Center
- Reflect on an experience you have had working in a high-need setting and how it may have prepared you to work at DotHouse Health Center.
