The University of Kansas Health System Department of Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation (PM&R)is seeking an unaccredited Fellow with interest in Oncology Rehabilitation.
This is a one year multidisciplinary fellowship training opportunity for individuals interested in advanced training in the diagnosis and management of neurological and musculoskeletal impairments and disabilities associated with various types of cancers and their treatments. Special skills are developed in the evaluation and treatment of cancer patients and survivors with residual impairments related to their cancer treatments including chemotherapy radiation therapy surgery and stem cell transplantation as well as complications related to the cancer itself. Fellows will also manage non-cancer-related rehabilitation and musculoskeletal issues influencing a patients quality of life and ability to undergo further cancer treatments.
Trainees will have an exciting opportunity to also undergo additional rotations in interventional and pelvic pain management palliative care integrative medicine as well as elective opportunities in radiation oncology and other oncology sub-specialty fields. Although emphasis is primarily clinical there is ample opportunity for a research project. Specific assistance including mentorship and dedicated time can be available for research purposes. Trainees will have meaningful opportunities in cancer related education at the departmental and institutional levels
