If you apply and are successful at interview you will be placed on a panel in order of
merit. Once you are on the panel you will be notified via email about all Staff Nurse
Intellectual Disability posts as they arise within the Intellectual Disability Services
Cavan Monaghan.
As each individual job arises we inform all candidates on the panel via email. The
email tells you about an individual job at a particular site details include: location start
date the service itself the caseload the team and the contact details of a Nurse
Manager at that site with whom you can talk if you want to find out more. You can
even arrange a site visit to help you decide if it is the right job for you. If you are
interested you can simply ignore it until you see a job that is of interest to you.

Purpose of the Post
The role of the Staff Nurse Intellectual Disability (ID) is to provide holistic personcentred
nursing care promoting optimum independence enhancing the quality of life
for service users with intellectual physical or sensory disability in all aspects of daily
living.
On occasion the Staff Nurse ID may be expected to take responsibility for a unit or
community facility in the absence of the Clinical Nurse Manager. S/he must practice in
accordance with the Code of Professional Conduct as set out by the Nursing &
Midwifery Board of Ireland (NMBI) and within the policies guidelines protocols of the
units / settings in which they are employed.
Candidates must have at the latest date for receipt of applications for the post:-
i) Be registered in the Intellectual Disability Division of the Register of Nurses &
Midwives maintained by Bord Altranais agus Cnáimhseachais na hÉireann
(Nursing and Midwifery Board of Ireland) or be entitled to be so registered
And
ii) Have the clinical and administrative capacity to properly discharge the
functions of the role
Note: Post holders must maintain annual registration with Bord Altranais agus
Cnáimhseachais na hÉireann (Nursing & Midwifery Board of Ireland)
Health
A candidate for and any person holding the office must be fully competent and capable
of undertaking the duties attached to the office and be in a state of health such as
would indicate a reasonable prospect of ability to render regular and efficient service.
Character
Each candidate for and any person holding the office must be of good character
Post Specific Requirements
Demonstrate professional knowledge and experience across the Intellectual Disability
scope of nursing practice
Other Requirements to the post
