Position Summary
The Greeter / Front Desk Specialist serves as the first point of contact for patients and visitors in a busy orthopedic clinic. This role is responsible for creating a welcoming professional environment while ensuring efficient patient check-in accurate data collection and excellent customer service.
Key Responsibilities
- Greet patients and visitors warmly upon arrival and direct them appropriately
- Check patients in and out for appointments in a timely and accurate manner
- Verify patient demographics insurance information and photo identification
- Collect copayments balances and obtain required signatures
- Answer incoming phone calls and route calls or messages appropriately
- Schedule reschedule and confirm appointments as needed
- Maintain patient confidentiality and comply with HIPAA regulations
- Coordinate with clinical staff to ensure smooth patient flow
- Monitor waiting area to ensure cleanliness and patient comfort
- Assist with administrative tasks such as scanning documents filing and data entry
Requirements
Required Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent
- Previous experience in a medical office front desk or customer service role preferred
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills
- Strong attention to detail and organizational skills
- Ability to multitask in a fast-paced clinical environment
- Basic computer proficiency and experience with electronic medical records (EMR) systems preferred
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience in an orthopedic or specialty medical practice
- Knowledge of medical terminology and insurance verification
- Bilingual skills a plus
Physical Requirements
- Ability to sit or stand for extended periods
- Ability to lift up to 25 pounds occasionally
