Job Summary:

This position will work in the Office of the Vice Chancellor for Research as Administrative manager for existing UW Madison Campus Centers. Position will learn what capabilities and technologies centers (and individual lab groups) have and be a liaison between them and the rest of campus to further improve visibility and equipment sharing/usage. The applicant will design and maintain a website for the aforementioned purposes as well as design and run seminars and symposiums. Applicant will work with nation-wide groups with the prerogative of increasing visibility and usage of center and individual lab technologies and services institution-wide as well as nation-wide.

Key Job Responsibilities:

  • Leads the development and preparation of periodic reports and financial statements and records progress status or other special reports for leadership or external agencies
  • May assist in the development and monitoring of the unit or program budget and approve unit expenditures
  • Schedules logistics and secures resources for program activities across multiple work units to ensure optimum efficiency and compliance with appropriate policies procedures and specifications
  • Plans implements executes and evaluates existing strategies and objectives for a program and makes recommendations to unit leadership for program or function enhancement

Provides administrative leadership for the coordination of campus research core

resources and represents UW campus cores locally and nationally.

  • Contributes to the preparation of proposals for funding and/or funding continuation from outside sponsors
  • Identifies workflow needs contributes to the development of strategic and operational solutions allocates resources and implements new or revised unit operational policies and procedures

Preferred Qualifications:

At least 5 years in research management. Previous experience running an academic research program or research centers preferred.

Education:

Bachelors Degree in a scientific discipline required.
