Responsibilities
- Conduct comprehensive psychiatric evaluations including mental status examinations diagnostic interviews and risk assessments to accurately diagnose mental health disorders.
- Diagnose and treat a wide range of psychiatric conditions such as depression anxiety disorders bipolar disorder schizophrenia PTSD substance use disorders and other mood and behavioral health conditions.
- Develop and implement individualized treatment plans including medication management psychotherapy coordination and referrals to appropriate behavioral health services.
- Monitor patient progress and adjust treatment plans as needed to ensure optimal clinical outcomes.
- Collaborate with primary care providers psychologists social workers nurses and other healthcare professionals to coordinate integrated multidisciplinary care.
- Utilize electronic health record (EHR/EMR) systems to document patient evaluations treatment plans progress notes and follow-up care accurately and efficiently.
- Provide patient and family education regarding diagnoses treatment options medication management and coping strategies.
- Ensure compliance with HIPAA regulations patient safety standards and all applicable clinical and ethical guidelines.
- Participate in care coordination for patients requiring higher levels of care including inpatient hospitalization crisis intervention or referrals to community resources.
- Stay current with advancements in psychiatric medicine evidence-based practices and continuing medical education requirements.
Experience
Candidates should possess strong clinical experience in psychiatry with demonstrated proficiency in psychiatric diagnosis psychopharmacology and patient management. Experience in outpatient and/or inpatient psychiatric settings is highly desirable. Familiarity with treating complex and comorbid mental health conditions including substance use disorders is preferred. Candidates should have a solid foundation in medical terminology psychiatric assessment tools CPT coding and documentation standards. Proficiency with EMR systems such as Epic or similar platforms is required. Experience working in collaborative or integrated care models and participation in quality improvement initiatives or clinical research is a plus. A compassionate patient-focused approach and strong communication skills are essential for success in this role.
