As the Freelancer Senior Product Designer you will take the design helm of one of our highest-ranking apps in the App Store The Calculator boasting 3.5 million monthly active users and serving as a standard for utility apps in the Apple Ecosystem from iPhone to iPad to Vision Pro & Siri Voice.

Youll be influencing the daily lives and financial decisions of millions of people. Your work will be seen touched and relied upon by a global audience making it a high-impact design opportunity in the industry.

Youll lead discovery connect user insights with behavioral data and translate complex information into simple elegant experiences people love to use. Working side-by-side with Product Engineering and Growth your mission is to evolve our flagship Calculator from a high-performance utility into a sophisticated multi-purpose financial and mathematical companion for 2026 standards.

What youll deliver: Retention & Innovation

In 2026 our goal is to win by focusing on the users we already have. During this assignment you will help us build a product experience that is clearly superior to competitors including Apples native offering delivering premium value that feels fair transparent and worth it.

Your specific focus for this assignment will be:

• AI & Voice Strategy & Interaction Framework: Lead the design discovery process to identify the most assertive direction for AI and voice-over integration. You will deliver high-fidelity prototypes for natural language calculations aimed at reducing friction in complex tasks and increasing user confidence in results.
• Feature Discoverability Redesign: Conduct a UX audit to identify the gap where users fail to find advanced high-valued features such as the History that solve their specific needs. You will deliver proposed flow optimizations and UI suggestions that directly increase feature engagement and conversion.
• Accessibility Review: Review and refine the designs and support the technical implementation of Accessibility features currently in progress to ensure our flagship remains inclusive and best-in-class for all users.
• Widget Ecosystem Expansion: Review our current widget offering and design an updated package of widgets tailored to generate higher user value and significantly increase daily active usage.
• Split Bill Feature: Lead the discovery and end-to-end design of a dedicated feature for splitting bills turning a common daily pain point into a seamless elegant experience.
• Design System Maintenance & Updates: Perform ongoing maintenance and provide critical updates to the existing Design System to ensure visual and functional coherence across all platforms including iPhone and iPad.
• Discovery & Data Validation Reports: Connect user insights with behavioral data to provide clear design rationales for every iteration ensuring our 2026 product experience remains clearly superior to competitors.
  
  

How youll deliver:

• Lead Discovery & Design Vision: Own and drive the design discovery process from user research and behavioral analysis to concept validation and experience principles for the Calculator products.
• Ecosystem Design & iOS: Craft experiences beyond the iPhone app: widgets voice iPad notifications AI. Wherever calculation adds value to daily life. Always following Apples Human Interface Guidelines.
• Data-Driven Design Decisions: Combine user insights analytics and experimentation to validate hypotheses and measure design impact.
• High-Fidelity Craft & Interaction Detail: Deliver polished production-ready design specifications and motion interactions that elevate usability and delight.
• Cross-Functional Collaboration: Partner with Product Tech and Growth to balance user needs business goals and feasibility - ensuring design excellence through delivery.

What were looking for:

Experience & Expertise

• 5 years of experience designing and leading for high-traffic consumer mobile apps (preferably iOS).
• Proven ability to lead discovery and design strategy across multiple products or product lines.
• Strong portfolio showcasing research-driven design complex data visualization and holistic mobile ecosystems.
• Deep knowledge of Figma prototyping tools (ProtoPie Framer Figma Frame) and modern AI-assisted design workflows (e.g. Cursor Figma Make Stitch AI).
• Experience building or contributing to a scalable Design System.

• Fluent in interpreting data to guide design decisions comfortable with analytics funnel data and user behavior metrics.
• Experience designing for personalization retention and engagement.
• Bonus: Familiarity with designing AI-powered tools for end-users or context-aware utility interfaces.
