As the Plate Roll Operator you will be responsible for forming steel plate components used in pressure vessels and structural assemblies in accordance with union standards safety procedures and fabrication specifications.
Set up and operate plate rolling equipment to form steel plates to required diameters and tolerances based on fabrication drawings.
Ensure rolled components meet quality standards to support accurate fit-up and downstream welding operations.
Interpret blueprints work orders and specifications while adhering to established shop procedures and union work practices.
Use precision measuring tools to verify dimensions and report any non-conformances per quality and supervisory guidelines.
Work collaboratively with welders fitters supervisors and union representatives to meet production schedules and quality objectives.
Maintain a safe organized work area and actively participate in safety meetings and continuous improvement initiatives.
To succeed in this role candidates should demonstrate the following:
Certification or training in welding structural steel fitting boilermaker trade or equivalent experience is preferred but not mandatory.
25 years of experience operating plate rolling equipment or performing heavy fabrication work in a unionized shop environment.
Demonstrated ability to safely operate plate rolls and handle heavy steel materials in compliance with safety standards.
Experience with pressure vessel fabrication or heavy industrial manufacturing is considered a strong asset.
Strong understanding of safety protocols quality standards and union shop procedures.
Reliable team-oriented work ethic with the ability to follow established processes and contribute to collective shop success.
