Registered Nurse III (RN III) Non-Clinical Medical Case Manager
The Registered Nurse III (RN III) serves as key personnel and functions as a Non-Clinical Medical Case Manager in support of the Maine Army National Guard (MEARNG) Individual Medical Readiness (IMR) mission. This position is responsible for comprehensive case management oversight medical readiness tracking coordination of care and accurate documentation across Department of Defense (DoD) medical systems to ensure Service Members maintain or achieve a Fully Medically Ready (FMR) status.
The RN III plays a critical role in sustaining medical readiness metrics in accordance with DoDI 6025.19 and applicable Army and DoD regulations by managing complex medical cases coordinating referrals supporting Medical Readiness Events (MREs) and serving as a liaison between Soldiers units medical providers and state medical leadership.

Attendance at Medical Readiness Events (MREs) and Soldier Readiness Processing (SRP) including occasional weekends (NovMar)

Manage and oversee non-clinical medical case management services for assigned Soldiers from initial identification through resolution return to duty or administrative separation.
Maintain oversight of approximately 300 open cases 500 referrals 200 profiles and 30 active MEB/PEB cases annually.
Conduct comprehensive case reviews at least every 21 calendar days to ensure accurate tracking documentation and communication.
Identify Soldiers with P3/P4 profiles and ensure timely coordination with the State Surgeons Office and Disability Services Section (DSS) for IDES referrals.
Review and utilize DoD electronic systems including MEDPROS eCase MEDCHART MODS eProfile MHS GENESIS and related readiness portals.
Conduct Soldier interviews (in person or telephonic) and document interactions in eCase and MEDCHART within required timelines.
Scan index label and upload medical documentation ensuring records are marked MEDPROS Posted and routed to the appropriate custodians.
Generate readiness reports including MEDPROS MRC3/MRC4 reports within mandated timeframes.
Coordinate and schedule medical evaluations profile exams audiology exams and follow-up appointments with military and civilian providers.
Monitor referral lists following MREs and ensure Soldiers are scheduled with Army medical providers for review and disposition.
Coordinate treatment plans with Health Service Support (HSS) behavioral health teams and external medical facilities.
Support Soldiers through the Medical Evaluation Board (MEB) and Physical Evaluation Board (PEB) processes.
Prepare for and support all MREs and SRP events by reviewing medical readiness data and identifying non-deployable Soldiers in advance.
Provide on-site support during events and complete post-event data entry follow-ups and reporting within required timelines.
Educate Soldiers on medical readiness requirements available resources and health improvement strategies.
Review lab results notify Soldiers and provide guidance on lifestyle modifications.
Serve as a liaison with DSS unit leadership medical providers and state medical offices on complex or high-risk cases.
Ensure compliance with HIPAA PII protection requirements and all applicable Army and DoD regulations.
Active unrestricted Registered Nurse (RN) license
Registered Nurse III (RN III) qualification
Minimum 3 years of clinical nursing experience
Minimum 2 years of case management experience
Demonstrated experience in medical readiness care coordination or military/DoD healthcare environments
Certified Case Manager (CCM) certification
Experience supporting National Guard Reserve or Active Duty populations
Familiarity with DoD medical readiness systems (MEDPROS MEDCHART eCase MHS GENESIS)
Ability to obtain and maintain Common Access Card (CAC)
Successful completion of required background investigations
Completion of mandatory training including:

HIPAA (annual)
OPSEC
Information Assurance (IA)
Strict adherence to PII COMSEC and Army Information System policies
Ability to work in secure military installations
Professional interaction with Soldiers command staff and medical leadership
Attention to detail and ability to manage high-volume complex case workloads
