Position Summary: The Respiratory Therapist provides respiratory care services to patients across the Trinity Health Hospital Campus and Medical District supporting the diagnosis treatment and ongoing management of respiratory conditions. This role performs therapeutic interventions and diagnostic procedures including EKGs and pulmonary function testing while working in accordance with clinical protocols and provider orders. As part of a collaborative interdisciplinary care team the Therapist partners closely with nursing physicians and other clinical staff to deliver safe coordinated and effective patient care. The position functions within a supportive clinical environment that values adaptability communication and shared responsibility including cross-training to additional clinical functions as needed. Through accurate assessment technical expertise and compassionate patient interaction the Respiratory Therapist helps promote optimal respiratory function patient comfort and positive clinical outcomes. Key Responsibilities: Perform respiratory care treatments therapies and assessments in accordance with physician orders clinical guidelines and departmental protocols. Conduct EKGs and pulmonary function tests ensuring accurate data collection and proper equipment operation. Monitor patient responses to respiratory interventions and communicate significant findings to the care team to support timely clinical decision-making. Document all assessments treatments and diagnostic procedures clearly and accurately within the electronic medical record. Collaborate with nursing physicians and other clinical staff to support coordinated patient care and respiratory management plans. Maintain equipment supplies and work areas to ensure readiness safety and compliance with infection-prevention standards.
Licenses and Certifications Required Must be Registered Respiratory Therapist by NBRC. Must be licensed Respiratory Therapist in ND. Basic Life Support (CPR) required within 30 days of hire. Educational Requirements Official diploma or transcript from the school/university from where Degree was received. Experience Requirements None. Special Skills or Training Requirements None. Physical Requirements: The Respiratory Therapist is frequently required to stand walk bend and move throughout patient care areas to deliver treatments and perform assessments. The role involves assisting patients moving equipment and handling supplies which may require moderate lifting pushing and pulling. Adequate vision hearing and manual dexterity are essential for reading monitors performing procedures and responding quickly in clinical situations. Environmental Requirements: Work is performed in inpatient and outpatient clinical settings including acute care units emergency areas and diagnostic spaces. The therapist may encounter exposure to infectious diseases respiratory irritants bodily fluids cleaning agents and varying noise levels.
