Role Summary
MetaPhase Consulting is seeking a motivated and experienced Network Monitoring Engineer to support enterprise network monitoring operations for a federal client. This position will support implementation dashboard configuration and maintenance of performance monitoring solutions across a wide area network (WAN) environment. The ideal candidate will have strong analytical and technical skills a collaborative mindset and experience working on cross-functional IT initiatives in a federal or enterprise setting.
What You Will Be Doing
Assist in the integration and configuration of network monitoring solutions to improve visibility and performance across the Clients enterprise network.
Work with stakeholders to capture monitoring requirements including alert response times severity levels and reporting needs.
Support the creation of dashboards and visualizations tailored to Bureau or team-specific use cases.
Coordinate with engineers and system owners to implement route and host monitoring configurations.
Conduct technical meetings and document configuration efforts implementation steps and status updates.
Maintain documentation of network monitoring configurations data paths and integration status.
Help triage and escalate issues related to implementation system performance or platform adoption.
Participate in testing validation and rollout of new monitoring features or enhancements.
Support the transition of knowledge and documentation across teams during project handoffs.
What We Need From You (Required)
U.S. Citizenship (NO EXCEPTIONS) and ability to obtain a Public Trust clearance.
7 years of professional IT experience in a network operations infrastructure or monitoring support role.
Strong familiarity with enterprise WAN environments monitoring best practices and performance diagnostics.
Hands-on experience supporting the setup or management of monitoring dashboards alerting logic or data integration.
Ability to work with technical documentation and coordinate implementation tasks with client teams.
Experience engaging in system testing stakeholder meetings and delivering client-facing reports or updates.
Strong written and verbal communication skills.
Bachelors degree in Information Systems Computer Science or related technical discipline.
Bonus Points (Preferred Qualifications)
Masters degree in IT Computer Science or related field (may substitute for 23 years of experience).
Experience with IT and network monitoring tools such as SolarWinds ThousandEyes Datadog Splunk AppDynamics PRTG Nagios or similar platforms.
Exposure to log aggregation tools SNMP-based monitoring or synthetic transaction monitoring.
Familiarity with dashboard creation path visualization alert tuning or configuration scripting.
Exposure to ATO documentation processes or experience in federal IT environments.
Technical certifications such as CompTIA Network CCNA SolarWinds Certified Professional Splunk Core Certified User or vendor-specific monitoring credentials.
Work Setup & Travel
Hybrid work environment. 23 days per week onsite in Washington DC; remote work subject to Client approval. Occasional local travel may be required and is not reimbursable.
Education & Clearance Requirements
Bachelors degree required. Masters degree may be considered in lieu of years of experience. Must be eligible for and able to maintain a Public Trust clearance. U.S. Citizenship required.
