Job Title: Dental Assistant
Location: Soldier Readiness Processing Center (SRP) William Beaumont Army Medical Center (WBAMC) 18511 Highlander Medics St Fort Bliss TX 79906 and outlying clinics.
Tentative Start Date: 1 April 2026
Work Schedule: Monday-Friday 0500-1630 (SRP operational hours). Up to 48 mission-driven overage hours per FTE may be required annually beyond regularly scheduled duty hours as authorized by the Government.
Qualifications:
Education:
High school diploma or GED.
Dental Assistant Certificate or Associate Degree or equivalent certification (CODA-accredited program military dental school Red Cross Dental Assistant course state-accredited program or AADA membership) including radiography training.
Experience:
Minimum of one (1) year of recent experience within the last two (2) years working as a Dental Assistant in a clinical dental clinic or medical treatment facility setting.
Experience assisting dentists during dental examinations treatments and readiness-related dental assessments.
Experience preparing dental operatories instruments and supplies for patient care.
Experience interacting directly with patients and supporting dental readiness workflows.
License / Certification:
Current Dental Assistant certification or registration as required by the issuing state.
Radiography certification as required by 42 CFR Part 75.
Basic Life Support (BLS) certification (AHA or Red Cross) required.
Other Requirements: U.S. Citizenship required.
Responsibilities:
Support Soldier Readiness Processing (SRP) dental operations by assisting dentists with dental examinations screenings and readiness-related dental assessments.
Prepare service members for dental evaluations including reviewing dental history information and positioning patients for examination or treatment.
Assist dentists chairside during dental procedures by handling instruments suctioning retracting and maintaining a clear operating field.
Prepare clean and turn over dental operatories between patients to support high-volume SRP throughput.
Set up dental instruments materials and supplies required for scheduled dental procedures and readiness evaluations.
Take and process dental radiographs when authorized and directed in accordance with clinic protocols.
Ensure dental equipment instruments and supplies are properly cleaned stored and available for ongoing operations.
Escort service members through dental processing stations and ensure timely movement through SRP dental workflows.
Document dental support activities and assigned tasks in MHS GENESIS or other Government-designated systems as directed.
Support surge dental operations during peak MOB/DEMOB cycles including extended duty hours when mission required.
