Job Summary

Job Title: Physician Location: Soldier Readiness Processing Center (SRP) William Beaumont Army Medical Center (WBAMC) 18511 Highlander Medics St Fort Bliss TX 79906 and outlying clinics.

Tentative Start Date: 1 April 2026

No. of FTEs Required: 1 FTE

Work Schedule: Monday-Friday 0500-1630 (SRP operational hours). Up to 48 mission-driven overage hours per FTE may be required annually beyond regularly scheduled duty hours as authorized by the Government.

Qualifications:
  • Education: Doctor of Medicine (MD) or Doctor of Osteopathic Medicine (DO) from a medical school accredited by the Liaison Committee on Medical Education (LCME) or the American Osteopathic Association (AOA).
  • Experience:
  • Minimum of one (1) year of clinical experience within the last three (3) years practicing as a licensed physician in primary care family medicine internal medicine occupational health or general medicine.
  • Experience conducting comprehensive medical evaluations and physical examinations for adult patients.
  • Experience reviewing medical records assessments and supporting documentation to make clinical determinations.
  • License / Certification:
    • Current unrestricted MD or DO license issued by any U.S. state or territory.
    • Board certification in Family Medicine Internal Medicine or related specialty is preferred; board eligibility is acceptable.
    • Basic Life Support (BLS) certification from the AHA or Red Cross (online-only certifications not accepted).
    • National Provider Identifier (NPI) required.
    • DEA registration required (active and unrestricted)
  • Other Requirements: U.S. Citizenship required.
Responsibilities:
  • Perform medical evaluations and physical examinations for service members undergoing Soldier Readiness Processing (SRP) mobilization demobilization redeployment and separation.
  • Review and interpret Deployment Health Assessments (DHA) Periodic Health Assessments (PHA) Separation Health and Physical Examinations (SHPE) medical profiles waiver requests and supporting medical documentation.
  • Make final clinical determinations regarding medical readiness deploy ability duty limitations and fitness for return to home of record.
  • Evaluate medical waivers and supporting documentation to determine compliance with COCOM deployment requirements.
  • Diagnose and manage acute and chronic medical conditions identified during readiness processing including determining when follow-on care or specialty referral is required.
  • Order review and interpret laboratory tests diagnostic studies and imaging necessary to support readiness determinations.
  • Prescribe medications and treatment plans within granted privileges and scope of practice.
  • Provide clinical oversight and consultation to Nurse Practitioners Physician Assistants and nursing staff as required during SRP operations.
  • Coordinate care and disposition decisions with behavioral health providers case managers and ancillary services when medical or psychosocial concerns impact deploy ability.
  • Document all evaluations clinical decisions and disposition outcomes in MHS GENESIS ensuring encounters are completed and closed within required timeframes.
  • Maintain expected patient-per-hour throughput consistent with other physicians performing similar SRP functions.
Support surge operations during high-volume MOB/DEMOB cycles including extended hours when mission requirements dictate.
