Job Title: Surgical Technologist (Scrub Tech)

Duration: 13-week assignment

Job Summary

The Surgical Technologist (Scrub Tech) works under the direct supervision of a surgeon to support the safe and effective performance of surgical accordance with Association of Surgical Technologists (AST) standards this role ensures the operating room is properly prepared sterile technique is maintained and surgical instruments and supplies are available throughout procedures to maximize patient safety and efficiency.

Key Responsibilities

Prepare operating rooms by checking and setting up required supplies instruments and equipment
Scrub gown and glove self surgeons and assistants
Maintain sterile technique at all times
Anticipate surgeon needs and pass instruments during procedures
Perform surgical counts with the circulator before incision and prior to closure
Assist with draping and maintaining the sterile field
Clean and prepare instruments for terminal sterilization
Assist with terminal room cleaning and preparation for subsequent cases
Support onboarding and training of new employees and students
Comply with all surgical safety infection control and documentation standards

Note: Scrub Technologists are not permitted to function as circulating nurses first assistants administer medications or complete patient records.

Job Requirements

Education:

Graduate of an accredited trade or technical school (Certificate or Diploma)

Certification:

Certified by the National Board of Surgical Technology and Surgical Assisting (NBSTSA)

Experience:

Minimum of 1 year of surgical technologist experience preferred
Minimum of 3 years of experience required

Additional Information

Local travelers residing within a 50-mile radius may be subject to a reduced local rate
Up to 16 hours of orientation may be unpaid
Holiday coverage required
Contract allows for limited shift cancellations per assignment terms
EMR system used: EPIC
