Job Summary

Job role: Application Security

Duration: 3 - 6 Contact to Hire

Location: San Francisco CA 3 days a week

Client is looking for mid senior level Application Security talent ideally someone who can cover both hardware and software security. That said they are open to two specialists if needed.

Primary Focus Areas:

End-to-end product security across both hardware and software
Understanding how hardware and software operate independently and interact with each other as well as with external systems
Identifying vulnerabilities across the full system lifecycle
Reviewing and improving process gaps and areas that need to be hardened
Evaluating redundancy and connected systems for resilience and security risks

Hardware Security (Networking / Firmware):

Experience with networking hardware signals collection and embedded/firmware systems
Ability to assess firmware integrity validation and update mechanisms
Understanding how hardware security controls integrate with backend systems
Identifying risks in device communication redundancy and failover design

Software / Application Security:

Securing applications and the product itself not just infrastructure
Experience with:
- SaaS platforms
- APIs
- Cloud-based architectures
Evaluating and improving:
- RBAC (role-based access control) design
- Authentication and authorization flows
- How the application validates and interacts with firmware and hardware components
Hands-on vulnerability identification and remediation guidance
