Job Summary

  1. Ships draft survey
  2. Barge draft survey
  3. Ships on/off hire survey
  4. Pre-purchase survey on ocean going vessels
  5. Bunker surveys
  6. Inspection of ships hold for suitability with respect to cleanliness
  7. Ships hold cleaning consultant
  8. Inspection of any ships compartments
  9. Supervision of load and stowing of cargoes
  10. Loading and lashing of deck cargoes
  11. Grain stability
  12. Dead freight survey
  13. Draft limitation calculations
  14. Stevedore damage survey
  15. Dock damage survey
  16. Vessel damage survey
  17. P & I surveys
  18. Owners Shippers Charters representative at loading/discharge
  19. Inspection of refrigerated compartments
  20. General cargo damage survey
  21. Marine consultant for Agents Shippers or Terminals

Qualifications :

  • Must have a minimum of 5 -10 years experience in conducting Marine surveys
  • A minimum of post-secondary education (College diploma or University degree)
  • Must possess Canadian Foreign Going Masters Certificate
  • Capable of operating without being under close supervision
  • Superior organizational communication and interpersonal skills are essential
  • Must be able to read understand and follow work instructions in a safe accurate and timely manner.
  • Candidates must be proficient in using various types of computer software (Word Excel. PowerPoint & Outlook).Proven ability to manage and coordinate multiple projects in a fast-paced highly professional environment.
  • Candidates must demonstrate excellent verbal and written communication skills including grammar and composition.
  • Extended hours and shift work are required.
  • Ability to work well with others & independently.
  • Proven time management skills and a strong attention to detail.
  • Works well under pressure.
  • Extended hours and shift work may be required from time to time.
  • Travel to other SGS locations or client location may be required from time to time.
  • Ensures full compliance with the companys Health & Safety Code of Integrity and Professional Conduct policies.

Additional Information :

Compensation:  $39 to $40 per hour (Variable Hours - Casual Part time - Unionized position)
