Under the direction of the Director Workforce Solutions the Workforce Solutions Corporate Trainer acts as a subject matter expert to create and deliver high-impact customized non-credit training and technical consulting with our industry partners. The role ensures client employees build and strengthen advanced role-relevant skills and applied knowledge needed to perform effectively in complex roles and work environments supporting improved performance adaptability and organizational outcomes. Work requires judgment analysis and decision making according to established practices and procedures. Training assignments are completed independently. Interactions with the supervisor are generally limited to complex problems or unusual conditions. The trainer conducts training and business development activities in collaboration with the Workforce Solutions team and other Milwaukee Area Technical College faculty partners.

Characteristic Duties and Responsibilities

  • Industry / Domain Focus: Understand modern manufacturing environments production systems safety requirements and employer workforce needs. This position will primarily support workforce training and technical consulting for employers within advanced manufacturing and related industrial sectors including but not limited to: Manufacturing Maintenance & Industrial Systems Automation Mechatronics and Robotics CNC Machining and Advanced Manufacturing Processes Electrical Mechanical and Electromechanical System.
  • Client Engagement & Customization Within Manufacturing-Focused Engagements: Customize training programs to align with employer-specific equipment processes and skill requirements. Adapt instruction for varied learner skill levels from entry-level technicians to experienced maintenance staff. Collaborate with Workforce Solutions staff and MATC faculty partners to scope design and deliver responsive training solutions.
  • Applied Industry Experience: Bring significant essential hands-on manufacturing experience such as: Experience working in manufacturing maintenance automation CNC machining or industrial operations environments direct experience troubleshooting repairing or optimizing industrial equipment and systems familiarity with production settings downtime reduction and operational efficiency goals and the ability to translate workplace experience into effective learner-centered training.
  • Tools Technologies and Standards: Work with or demonstrate knowledge of industrial equipment tools and diagnostic technologies PLC platforms and industrial control systems CNC machines and related software Blueprint standards and GD&T specifications and Lean manufacturing quality and safety standards.
  • Evolving Scope: The specific manufacturing focus areas may evolve based on: employer demand and regional manufacturing trends Grant-funded initiatives and strategic partnerships as well as emerging technologies and workforce skill needs.
  • Training Facilitation and Technical Assistance: Plan prepare and facilitate training modules customized training or technical assistance onsite at employers or at community-based organizations as well as the college. Provide an active learning environment to enable participants to demonstrate training competencies and practice techniques in an engaging format.
  • Curriculum Development: Work with MATC faculty and other experts to develop revise and continually update curriculum and training materials and active learning activities which are competency-based and current and consistent with employer expectations. Help ensure curriculum is relevant and aligned with the colleges policies and regulations. Maintain level of required documentation and obtains WTCS approval of 400 level non-credit content.
  • Training Assessment Development and Administration: Determine the appropriate assessment tools and techniques to determine the training needs to meet the business objectives. Perform training needs assessment for employers and other potential customers.
  • Stakeholder Communication and Networking: Communicate effectively with all stakeholders to provide excellent customer service both internally and externally. Collaborate with employers community-based organizations to determine training needs. Develops relationships with business and industry.
  • Continuous Learning & Professional Development: Maintain current knowledge credentials and instructional approaches aligned with modern manufacturing environments with institutional support for ongoing professional development credential maintenance and skill advancement.
  • Maintain current knowledge of best practices and standards in higher education with an emphasis on community colleges. Actively organize and/or participate in applicable workgroups trainings workshops seminars committees and professional associations or conferences to promote continuous learning.
  • Other duties: Perform other related duties within the scope of the position as required for the efficient operation of the division and to support institutional objectives.

Qualifications

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

Compliance with all state federal and accreditation standards/requirements as well as all MATC policies and
procedures.

RequiredEducation Experience and Licensure/Certification:
  • Bachelors degree or higher in related field
  • At least three (3) years of progressively responsible work experience in a related field*
  • Valid Wisconsin Drivers license and be insurable under the Districts standard
    insurance policy terms.
*Related experience: The candidate must demonstrate deep applied expertise inone or more of the following manufacturing-related areas )along with working knowledge or experience across additional areas as relevant to assigned training engagements): industrial maintenance and troubleshooting of mechanical electrical and electromechanical systems automation systems including PLCs sensors actuators and basic robotics CNC machining operations setup and foundational programming concepts blueprint reading and interpretation Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing (GD&T) preventive and predictive maintenance practices and manufacturing safety quality and continuous improvement principles.

Preferred Education Experience and Licensure/Certification:
  • Masters degree or higher is preferred
  • At least six (6) or more years of progressively responsible work experience in a related field* (see above)
  • Six Sigma Green Belt and/or DISC or DDI certification.

Preferred / Assignment-Aligned Credentials Candidates:Should possessone or more of the followingdepending on specialization and instructional focus:

  • TWO (2) National Coalition of Certification Centers (NC3) certification(s) -Industry-recognized manufacturing credentials related to:
    1. Industrial maintenance Automation or mechatronics
    2. CNC machining or advanced manufacturing processes
    3. OSHA 10 or OSHA 30 certification (or ability to obtain within a defined timeframe)
  • Additional or Advanced Credentials (Preferred):The following credentials are preferred and may be required for specific client engagements or advanced training assignments
    • Advanced automation PLC robotics or CNC certifications
    • Manufacturer-specific certifications related to industrial equipment controls or systems
    • Other industry-recognized credentials aligned with employer needs Equivalent combinations of education applied industry experience and credentials will be considered

Supplemental Information

Start Date: This position supports the Workforce Solutions Department and is available to start as soon as possible.

Hours: This position works up to 19 weekly hours year round. This is a 100% IN PERSON part-time position and work hours are based on department/partner needs. Core daytime hours likely but flexibility to evenings and weekends may be needed based on partner contracts.Employees will conduct all work hours in the State of Wisconsin performing work outside the state is strictly prohibited.

Compensation: Hourly pay rates are listed up to the midpoint of the range and placement is determined based on years of experience internal equity and a review of the applicants employment and educational background as listed on the job application. Education will be verified prior to offer.
