ACCOUNTANT-PAYROLL FOR THE FINANCE DEPARTMENT

Compensation: Wage range: $25.43 hourly ($52885 annually) - $31.27 hourly ($65043 Annually) FLSA Status: Non-Exempt. *The starting wage for this position will be $25.43 per hour.

POSITION FUNCTION SUMMARY:

Under the direction of the Senior Accountant the Accountant-Payroll is responsible for the bi-monthly payroll process. Will complete Journal Entries for Fund accounting. Reconciliation of payroll benefits annual audits and compliance reporting. Work includes accounting skills in preparation and posting of various journals ledgers and accounts; analysis and presentation of financial data and statements; analyzing contract requirements and processing invoices for payment; analyzing budget requirements; allocation of funds to various accounts or functions; and other complex accounting and HUD required activities. Current knowledge of experience and proficiency with Yardi and Isolved accounting software. Accountant-Payroll is expected to understand and apply an advanced knowledge of current federal state and local payroll laws.


Education and Experience:

Required:

  • Bachelors degree in Accounting and
  • Two (2) years of full-cycle payroll processing experience.
  • Working knowledge and experience in a federally funded program or fund accounting with grant experience.

Preferred:

  • Masters degree in Accounting.

Substitution:

  • In lieu of a bachelors degree an associate degree and four (4) years of full-cycle payroll processing experience and working knowledge and experience in a federally funded program or fund accounting with grant experience.

  • In lieu of a bachelors degree six (6) years of full-cycle payroll processing experience and working knowledge and experience in a federally funded program or fund accounting with grant experience.

Language Requirements:

Ability to read and write English in order to understand and interpret written procedures and technical manuals. This includes the ability to give and receive instructions in written and verbal forms and to effectively present information and respond to questions from vendors contractors supervisors co-workers residents and city/county agencies.
