NEW HIRES ARE CONDITIONAL UPON PASSING A FINGERPRINT SCREENING
REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:
- Washington State Career and Technical Education Certification in the subject area (or ability to attain); 6000 hours of documented work Specialized focus on Construction Trades residential home construction operating power tools blueprint reading OSHA safety external and internal home finish work.
- Willingness to recruit and facilitate an active industry advisory committee.
- Demonstrated success supervising a Career and Technical Student Organization (CTSO) and student leadership opportunities.
- Willingness to serve as an active member and advisor to the Vocational Building Programs 501C3 in all aspects of the construction of the residential home annually
- Knowledge of residential construction building codes
- Ability to work with industry partners to build a residential home each year
- Knowledge of OSHA safety for construction sites
- Demonstrated success supervising the student leadership organization.
- Valid First Aid/CPR card or ability to obtain one.
The candidate must demonstrate a deep commitment to student success while aligning with state requirements and the schools guiding principles vision and mission. They must also demonstrate passion and enthusiasm for working with all students. The candidate must be able and willing to participate in required trainings and professional development implement best practices that foster meaningful learning experiences work within a system that supports student interventions and collaborate with relevant staff members to enhance student outcomes.
DESIRED QUALIFICATIONS:
- Previous successful classroom teaching experience.
- Willingness to obtain certification to teach College in the High School/CTE Dual Credit.
- Bilingual/Biliterate* in English/Spanish.
- Knowledge of project management programs like Microsoft Project
- Teaching techniques which reflect interactive student-centered project driven instruction and incorporate communicative activities and authentic assessment.
- Ability to maintain program equipment lab area and facilities.
- Successful experience working with an industry advisory committee; attending meetings and participation in committee activities and events.
- Knowledgeable and willing to integrate appropriate technology into the instructionalprocess.
- Willingness to work with the business community to support student learning in the workplace; set up job shadow and internship opportunities.
- Ability to design instruction to meet adopted State and industry standards.
- Evidence of high standards in classroom management and student achievement.
- Willingness to work with the business community to support student learning in the residential construction industry.
Job Description: The successful candidate will be expected to:
- Provide an effective program of instruction in construction trades meeting district and state approved program standards (frameworks).
- Teach students from each high school the necessary skills for building residential construction
- Collaborate with industry partners and the Vocational Building Programs board of directors to build a residential home annually.
- Manage all aspects of the home construction process with the support of the Vocational Building Programs board and business partners.
- Train students on construction safety and help prepare them to earn OSHA certifications.
- Develop implement and supervise a student leadership organization following the state approved guidelines for an approved CTSO (may require after school nights and weekends).
- Be actively involved in advisory committee activities; attend all meetings and activities (after school evenings).
- Organize and maintain a safe lab environment while teaching and promoting safety.
- Maintain a positive attitude and productive learning environment.
- Review program needs and participate in the selection of equipment and instructional resources and materials.
- Develop and implement a continuous improvement plan in alignment with state CTE standards.
- Develop and monitor program budget; manage and submit purchases for the program.
- Integrate technology into the instructional process; stay up-to-date with technology related to the program area.
- Become involved with business and community partnerships; participate in internships and other industry related educational and training opportunities.
- Be a team player by establishing and maintaining cooperative professional relationships with others.
- Communicate regularly and proactively with students parents community members regarding student performance and progress toward meeting project goals.
