POSITION FUNCTION:

The Settlement Worker provides direct client service and program delivery support.

DUTIES OR RESPONSIBILITIES:

Conduct comprehensive needs assessments information and orientation provide referrals and individualized settlement planning.
Support newcomers with housing employment healthcare mental health education and income supports.
Facilitate life skills development and integration supports to enhance self-sufficiency.
Assists in identifying clients needs and supports clients to independently access community resources
Maintain accurate OCMS records case notes and reporting documentation.
Providing basic information about the labour market job search tools and referrals to available programs
Assist clients in credential accreditation
Accurately enter client information and services/activity information into OCMS in a timely manner
Publicize MOSAIC programs/services to ethno-cultural minority communities and service providers
Support development of program resources and materials
Develop an outreach plan/strategy to proactively deliver services to newcomers and represent MOSAIC in the community to advocate for newcomers needs
Assists in the preparation of reports as needed for the organization and funder of all program activities and services

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

Post-secondary certificate
Current and satisfactory Criminal Record Check required.

DESIRED SKILLS AND QUALIFICATIONS:

Excellent interpersonal and written communication skills with Passionate for helping people
Knowledge of the local labour market community resources and government programs.
Excellent administrative and organizational skills; ability to prioritize.
Tactful discreet diplomatic patient flexible and possesses cultural sensitivity and excellent judgement in decision-making.
Strong digital literacy skills in Microsoft Office software such as Word Excel Outlook PowerPoint and Teams.

BONUS SKILLS/CERTIFICATIONS:

Proficiency in additional languages is an asset.

COMPENSATION: $28.58 - $31.03 per hour

HOURS:

On-Call Position; each shift is 7 hours in duration. The successful candidate must be able to commute to our Boundary office at 5575 Boundary Rd Vancouver.

BENEFITS:

A competitive benefits package is provided with contracts of at least 1 year in length and which offer a minimum of 17.5 hours of work per week.
