TITLE: SCHOOL PSYCHOLOGIST

QUALIFICATIONS:
- Masters Degree from an accredited college or University.
- Possess Arizona Department of Education (ADE) School Psychologist Certificate.
- Have training and experience in individual and group consultation.
- Must possess a valid Arizona fingerprint clearance card.
JOB GOALS:
The School Psychologist is responsible for providing school psychology services to the districts students and administering individualized tests to referred students as well as conducting evaluations screenings and reporting results for placement of students in Special Education Programs. This position is also responsible for consulting with teachers counselors and parents while providing individual and group consultation for students serving to assist the Director of Special Services.
PERFORMANCE RESPONSIBILITIES:
The following tasks are essential for this position. This list is not inclusive of all responsibilities. Individuals may not perform all of these tasks or may perform similar related tasks not listed.
- Complies with HIPAA and FERPA related confidentiality requirements.
- Develops and maintains positive relations with ADE students parents school staff and the public.
- Administers Individualized student testing.
- Conducts comprehensive evaluations; prepares written and oral evaluation findings.
- Conducts Functional Behavior Assessments and assists in the development of Behavior Intervention Plans.
- Interprets and communicates evaluation results to students parents and school staff in a timely manner as prescribed by Federal State and District (or any other legal) requirements.
- Participates in the evaluation placement and review conference for students with identified disabilities.
- Provides individual and group psychological consultation and interventions for students.
- Confers with parents regarding special needs for their children.
- Performs other related duties as assigned.
MINIMUM KNOWLEDGE SKILL AND ABILITY:
Knowledge of:
- District policies operations and organization.
- Interpersonal skills including tact courtesy and diplomacy.
- Communication (telephone email etc.) etiquette.
- Office practices procedures and equipment including computers and related software.
- Educational theories and practices.
- Federal and state laws rules and regulations governing special education.
- Promoting positive public relations.
- Crisis management procedures.
Skill and Ability to:
- Work cooperatively with others.
- Establish work priorities that support compliance with all relevant legally mandated timelines.
- Engage and encourage communication skills while interacting with supervisors staff students etc. to exchange information.
- Make group presentations.
- Implement student management and educational policies and procedures.
- Analyze and problem solve.
- Create effective relationships with District staff vendors and the community.
- Provide excellent customer service.
- Supervise students when assigned.

- Enter data into a computer terminal and operate standard office equipment.
- See and read a computer screen and printed data with or without vision aids.
- Hear well enough to evaluate students responses.
- Occasionally required to sit for extended periods; use hands to finger handle or feel; reach with hands and arms; stoop kneel crouch or crawl.
- Move test kits.
REPORTS TO: Director of Special Services
EVALUATION: Performance of this job will be evaluated annually by the Director of Special Services in accordance with the provisions of Governing Board policy in evaluation of certified personnel.
TERMS OF
EMPLOYMENT: 10 Months
SALARY: Salary for the position is set according to the Related Services Salary Schedule determined by the Governing Board.
