Located in northern Nova Scotia close to warm-water beaches and communities with a rich Scottish heritage Michelin Pictou County manufactures rubber mixes and process components for other North American plants as well as passenger car and light truck winter tires for the North American market.
The opportunity
The Chemist will be responsible for applying various chemical measurement methods and processes to guarantee the integrity of materials used in rubber-mixing operations.
What you will do:
- performing chemical measurement tests across a variety of materials and applications;
- retrieving chemical samples from an industrial environment;
- guaranteeing measurement compliance throughout the testing process allowing the release of products and/or the tests results;
- monitoring test results and performing standard verifications reporting all non-conformities and shifts in performance;
- collaborating to determine the root cause of defects and non-performance and resolving the issues at the team level; and
- troubleshooting errors with lab equipment and working collaboratively to continuously improve the testing procedures.
What you will bring:
- Bachelors degree or equivalent experience in Chemistry Science or Engineering;
- experience working in a chemical lab and industrial setting is preferred;
- experience analyzing data reporting and presenting results;
- strong written and verbal communication skills;
- proven teamwork interpersonal and planning skills; and
- proficiency in the Microsoft Office Suite of applications.
