Job Summary and Responsibilities
As our Chaplain you will serve as a vital spiritual leader and compassionate caregiver within our hospital community providing essential spiritual counseling and support to patients families and staff.
Every day you will provide direct spiritual religious and existential care offering compassionate presence support and appropriate rituals to patients families and staff especially during times of crisis or grief. You will collaborate with the healthcare team to advocate for spiritual needs and integrate holistic care ensuring respect for diverse beliefs.
To be successful in this role you must be a highly compassionate individual comfortable and skilled in engaging with people who may be emotional panicked stressed or in pain. Youll need the proven ability to provide empathetic care adapt to diverse spiritual needs and communicate effectively within a multidisciplinary team.
- Demonstrates the ability to safely and competently perform tasks skills duties procedures and responsibilities according to Medical Center Policy and Procedure. Including but not limited to:
- Demonstrates ability to assess/interpret age-specific data.
- Encourages involvement of patient/family/significant other in decision making related to plan of care.
- Carries out the goals and objectives of the Pastoral Care Department.
- Facilitates the celebration of Liturgy and Sacraments as appropriate to his or her clerical status.
- Organizes worship services in creative skilled and ecumenical manner.
Job Requirements
Certification and active membership in the National Association of Catholic Chaplains Association of Professional Chaplains or other certifying body.
- Masters Degree in advanced education in Theology of Ministry.
Firm sense of personal and professional identity with an ability to establish working peer relationships with other members of the health care team.
Awareness of principles of Catholic Healthcare Ethics and Practices contemporary theological and psychosocial issues pertaining to illness and hospitalization.
Ability and openness to serve diverse populations in regard to cultural faith and economic backgrounds.
Clinical Pastoral Education from an accredited training center preferred. Certified Supervisor of Clinical Pastoral Education within 24 months.
