Job Summary
Position Overview:
The Vice Chair for Clinical Research is a key member of the hematology oncology leadership team reporting directly to the Physician-in-Chief and Scientific Director. This position is a critical leader of the clinical research enterprise. Working closely with the Senior Director of the clinical trials office Division Chiefs and program leaders the Vice Chair will provide physician oversight of the clinical trial portfolio infrastructure and compliance. The Vice Chair for Clinical Research is responsible for advancing MGBCIs clinical research mission by ensuring robust operational support facilitating collaboration across programs and fostering excellence in clinical trial design execution and dissemination of findings.
Key Responsibilities:
Leadership and Strategic Oversight:
- Develop and implement strategic plans to expand and enhance the clinical research portfolio of MGBCI.
- Ensure alignment of clinical research activities with the mission and strategic priorities of MGBCI.
- Ensure close collaboration with the other member institutions of the Harvard Cancer Consortium (HCC) and enhance the mission of HCC.
Clinical Trial Oversight:
- In close collaboration with the disease programs and the clinical trials office oversee the portfolio of clinical trials at MGBCI including industry sponsored investigator initiated and cooperative group studies.
- Collaborate closely with the clinical trials office to ensure compliance with regulatory requirements and ethical standards for clinical research.
- Develop and monitor metrics for clinical trial implementation and conduct.
Infrastructure Development and Management:
- Manage and enhance clinical trial infrastructure including processes and systems to enhance trial implementation and conduct across MGBCI sites.
- Innovate to increase efficiencies of trial implementation and conduct while maintaining the highest standards of quality.
Collaboration and Communication:
- Serve as a liaison between program directors investigators clinical research staff to facilitate collaboration.
- Provide regular updates to the MGBCI leadership on the status challenges and achievements of clinical research programs.
Regulatory Compliance and Oversight:
- Maintain adherence to FDA NIH and other regulatory standards for clinical trials.
- Ensure proper participation on SRC IRB audit and other review panels.
Funding and Program Support:
- In collaboration with the clinical trials office manage budgets and finances for clinical research activities.
- Identify opportunities to secure funding for new and ongoing clinical research programs.
Training and Development:
- Design and implement training programs for investigators coordinators and other research personnel.
- Promote best practices in clinical trial design conduct and reporting.
- Foster a culture of mentorship and professional development in clinical research.
Data and Statistical Management:
- Ensure data integrity security and compliance with institutional and regulatory standards.
Qualifications:
- Advanced degree (MD or equivalent) with 10 years in clinical research including leading clinical trials.
- Leadership experience in clinical trials and research administration.
- Strong knowledge of FDA NIH and other regulatory requirements for clinical research.
- Ability to collaborate effectively in a matrixed environment.
- Exceptional leadership communication and organizational skills.

Salary Range
The salary range for this role is $200000 - $500000/year adjusted for 1.0 FTE.
