A Key Stage 1 Opportunity to Build Confidence and Progression
We are seeking a dedicated enthusiastic and reflective Year 2 Teacher to join a supportive primary school in Guildford starting as soon as possible. This role offers an excellent opportunity to work with pupils at a crucial stage in their education helping them consolidate their Key Stage 1 learning while preparing them for the transition into Key Stage 2.
The successful candidate will take responsibility for a Year 2 class delivering high-quality teaching across the curriculum and ensuring pupils develop strong foundations in literacy numeracy and wider learning. The school places a strong emphasis on inclusive practice high expectations and pupil wellbeing and is looking for a teacher who can balance academic rigour with a nurturing and supportive approach.

The Role
As the Year 2 Teacher you will plan and deliver engaging and structured lessons that meet the needs of all learners. You will use assessment effectively to track progress identify gaps in learning and ensure pupils are well prepared for the increased independence and expectations of Year 3.
You will work closely with teaching assistants phase leaders and senior leadership to maintain high standards of teaching and learning. A key part of the role involves supporting pupils personal and social development encouraging resilience confidence and positive learning behaviours.
Key Responsibilities
Plan deliver and assess high-quality lessons across the Year 2 curriculum
Use formative and summative assessment to inform planning and differentiation
Support pupils in achieving strong outcomes in reading writing and maths
Create a safe inclusive and engaging classroom environment
Promote positive behaviour independence and confidence
Work collaboratively with teaching assistants and KS1 colleagues
Communicate effectively with parents and carers regarding pupil progress
Participate in staff meetings CPD and whole-school initiatives
Support pupils transition from Key Stage 1 into Key Stage 2
The Ideal Candidate
The successful applicant will:
Hold Qualified Teacher Status (QTS)
Have experience teaching in Key Stage 1 ideally Year 2
Demonstrate strong knowledge of the KS1 curriculum and assessment expectations
Be confident in differentiating learning to meet diverse needs
Have strong classroom management and organisational skills
Be reflective proactive and committed to professional development
Be dedicated to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children
