The Opportunity

Wayman Education is seeking a versatile and passionate Humanities Teacher for an immediate start at a forward-thinking secondary school in Southampton. This is an urgent requirement for a specialist who can deliver high-quality instruction across the Humanities spectrum helping students understand the complexities of the world around them.

The Role

This role offers the chance to work within a collaborative department where Geography History and Religious Studies are taught with a focus on critical thinking and global citizenship. The successful candidate will primarily lead classes at Key Stage 3 and Key Stage 4 (GCSE).

Key Responsibilities:

  • Interdisciplinary Teaching: Deliver engaging lessons across History Geography and RS tailoring content to meet diverse learning needs.

  • GCSE Preparation: Support students in your primary specialism (e.g. History or Geography) as they prepare for summer examinations.

  • Critical Inquiry: Encourage students to evaluate sources analyze maps and engage in respectful debate regarding ethics and culture.

  • Resource Development: Contribute to the creation of innovative schemes of work that link the Humanities curriculum to current global events.

Requirements

  • Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) or equivalent.

  • A degree in History Geography Religious Studies or a related Humanities subject.

  • Proven experience teaching at least two Humanities subjects at KS3 and one at GCSE.

  • Strong classroom management and a flair for making the past and the present relevant to modern students.

  • Excellent communication skills and the ability to work effectively as part of a team.
