Role description:

Arcadis is looking for a Senior Cost Leader (f/m/d) to join our team in Madrid Spain or Lisbon Portugal.
Our ideal candidate will have experience in Cost Management a strong technical background and strong interpersonal skills with an innovative and digital orientation. You will be part of our Project Management team reporting to a Team Leader and should be able to work independently and autonomously when required.
The role will be responsible for the operational delivery/management of (sub)projects in line with budgetary compliance regulatory and planning controls within required standards of quality delivery and safety. The position is aligned to our Technology opportunities (Data Centres and related assets) and will require a strong commercial mindset and robust cost control discipline in fast-paced delivery environments.

Role accountabilities:

  • Preparation of pre-contract cost estimates and project cash-flow.

  • Preparation of tender documentation and evaluation; review and validation of contractor estimates.

  • Advise on contractual/commercial matters and support procurement and commercial
    strategy as required.

  • Identifying analysing and developing responses to potential risks.

  • Monitor Contractors to ensure compliance with the Contract.

  • Review and validate claims for changes to the scope of works and agree new values in line with change control processes.

  • Monitor delivery of the Contractors services and works to ensure costs are in line
    with forecasts.

  • Undertake cost analysis of works or services delivered.

  • Post-contract administration and management including contract documentation valuation of progress payments variation assessment and cost control reporting.

  • Provide financial progress reports.

  • Technology sector focus: support cost and commercial management of Technology projects (including Data Centres) typically involving MEP-intensive scopes multipackage procurement long-lead items and tight program interfaces.

  • Technical Due Diligence audits (as required): technical review of installation projects technical specifications and maintenance documentation for all types of assets (industrial residential tertiary) analysing regulatory compliance design and operating conditions and useful life of equipment.

  • Contribute to team delivery standards and support mentoring/review of outputs where required.

Qualifications & Experience:

  • Must have a minimum of 5 years of experience preferably in Cost Management teams.

  • University degree in Construction Management (Building Surveying) or Architecture; M&E engineers are also welcomed.

  • Proven knowledge of MS Office and MS Project.

  • MRICS or equivalent is not required but will be an asset.

  • Technical proficiency: measurement cost estimating construction technology contracts and law.

  • Previous experience within a consultancy environment is a plus.

  • Proven experience managing project cost/budget scope schedule and resources; managing vendors; and overseeing formal planning tracking and reporting of project performance.

  • Proven experience within the Technology sector (Data Centres etc.) is a major plus.

  • Good communication skills.

  • Good negotiation and people skills.

  • Strong technical education in building construction.

  • Client-facing well-organised self-motivated and able to work independently as well as
    within a team.

  • Spanish and English (written and spoken) at a professional level
